chapter two - decision
-
Haidyn stared at the boy next to him. He's never been asked that question before and didn't think he ever would have been asked until now. He knew his attractiveness was worthy of a drawing of his face.
"Uh..." he trailed off, making it seem like he was been a bit freaked out and unsure how to answer, "no?" although, the answer had come out more of a question for which he hadn't intended to happen.
A smile spread across Aidriel's face and Haidyn felt a strange feeling in his chest. Then in his stomach... almost a... fluttery feeling. Furrowing his eyebrows together, he quickly looked away from the human sat in front of him and stared down at the table.
What is this feeling?
Haidyn, can you look up please? You don't have to smile or anything," Aidriel said, causing Haidyn to slowly raise his head towards the kid next two him. Tilting his head to the side, his eyebrows slightly raising and eyes widening at how innocent the human had looked. "Oh, my god, stay like that. You look so cute!"
Fighting off an unwanted smile, Haidyn remained in the position as Aidriel began to draw a shape before frowning and shaking his head, looking down at his pencil. He got up, holding up a finger to Haidyn and walked over to his brother.
Aidriel searched through his brother's tin box filled with eleven sketching pencils and frowned when the one he wanted and needed wasn't in there. Glancing over at his brother's moving hand, he plucked it from his fingers.
"Hey! Give it back!"
"Sorry, mate, I need it," ruffling his hair, Aidriel skipped back to his spot in front of Haidyn with the sketching pencil. Sticking out his tongue a bit as he began to focus and divert his attention from his paper to Haidyn's face and drawing out the boundaries of his perfect face, his hair, his neck, his shoulders and his magnificent collar bones.
Haidyn's face softened suddenly when he took in notice of the kid's face in front of him. Aidriel's eye brows were furrowed together, a look of absolute concentration on his usually soft, relaxed facial features. His eyes locked onto shading in specific parts of Haidyn's collar bones, neck, chin and lips.
When Aidriel looked like he was going to look up at him again, he assumed his position that the Sunderland native was trying to draw. Aidriel smiled softly at him before he looked back down at his paper and began to draw and shade in the shape of Haidyn's nose.
Getting back up from his seat, Aidriel dropped Derek's pencil on his lap before grabbing two more and returning to his seat, shading in parts of Haidyn's face and hair. He drew everything but his eyes - the most difficult part for Aidriel to draw. Aidriel was a perfectionist when it came to his art, whatever he drew, it had to be absolute perfect. He wanted to capture every emotion lurking in Haidyn's eyes which was sometimes difficult for Aidriel to draw, but he would always accomplish it no matter what.
He just had to lose himself in his work.
Taking one last long look into Haidyn's eyes, Aidriel felt something shift inside his mind and he gave the boy a curt nod which Haidyn understand automatically and he looked away, positioning himself straighter in his seat and facing the front of the class.
As Aidriel drew Haidyn's hazel eyes he didn't notice the 'emotion' he had captured whilst drawing and shading in the iris of Haidyn's eyes. His eyes light enough so he could see and draw his pupil, which was dilated quite large in a room bright like this one, reminding Aidriel of a seemingly high cat.
"Done," Aidriel announced with a satisfied smile and Derek, Haidyn and Mrs Santiago both turned to look at him in shock.
"How do you finish drawing people so fast? All in a period of... forty five minutes?! I can't even draw someone in and hour and a half!" Derek said and Mrs Santiago nodded, agreeing that Aidriel drew like it was a race, but they had both noticed that it was always perfect and well drawn.
Haidyn glanced down at the drawing of himself, his eyes slightly widening at it. Everything else was perfect and he liked it. Well, nearly did, there was only one thing he didn't like. His eyes. Although they were the perfect, almond shape, he didn't like... the look they had? The emotion in them, the look his eyes gave. He couldn't let anybody else notice this, it would ruin everything he was just beginning to set up. It would ruin his web of lies before he was even able to spew them out of his mouth.
His eyes looked soulless. Empty.

Frowning at the time on his mobile, Haidyn growled with annoyance and shoved it back into his back pocket. It wasn't nearly the time to go home and he was already regretting coming to this shit school and enduring the rest of the year learning shit he's learnt so many times.
Unless it was maths. That just never stuck in his head and he never seen why he had needed it when he could just manipulate and kill to get what he wants and possibly any job he desired... if he ever even wanted a job. Haidyn had never worked a day in his life, there being no need to.
Getting up from his seat in English when the bell rang, he was the first one out and in the corridor heading towards the large double doors that led out into the courtyard. He shook his head at the couple who emerged round the corner, a feeling of disgust in the pit of his stomach.
'I bet he's shagging her best friend,' he thought with almost an amused smirk before glaring in their direction as the boy led the shorter girl towards a table and crashed his lips onto hers almost forcibly.
Walking more towards the canteen, he spotted familiar wavy, shoulder length black hair, a thin, tall figure clad in all black enter the building and he fought off a smirk. The more he thought about and conversed with Aidriel, the more he wanted to see the fear in the boy's eyes. Possibly his brother's as well.
"Aidriel!" Haidyn called, making the effort to jog to the boy several metres in front of him. When Aidriel turned around, he smiled at him and stopped running to help Haidyn avoid jogging any further.
"Oh, hey!" Aidriel greeted the new kid, his smile genuine unlike the one he had been giving his brother all day. "Have you made any more friends yet?" he caught the sight of Haidyn's frown before he returned a smile and shook his head at Aidriel's question.
"Nah," he shook his head, "I wasn't really looking. I mean, I already have you and your brother. Who else do I need?" Haidyn wasn't looking for friends, he was only looking for someone he can toy with and then kill.
Without any further discussion about Haidyn's lack of making friends, the pair began to walk over to Aidriel's twin who was calling them over. Fighting off a growl of annoyance when Haidyn stopped in front of the seemingly annoying twin, he plastered on a smile and greeted the seventeen year old with a pleasant 'hi.'
Through our the forty minutes of lunch, Haidyn engaged in little conversation with the twins and just sat there, observing the pair. He watched their movements, listened to the tone of their voices as they argued with each other, spoke about someone they disliked and how their mother wouldn't be back in town since Saturday.
Haidyn had taken the opportunity to slip into their minds while they were engaged in a deep conversation about a book Haidyn had no interest in, taking advantage of their seemingly relaxed minds. It was easier than he thought to get inside both of their heads at once to poke round and make decisions on who he liked best.
He learnt that Derek wasn't as open and outgoing as Aidriel had seemed to be. He took in that he was more quiet and shy than his brother. Derek had more of a louder mind despite being less distracting than his overly hyperactive brother.
While Aidriel on the other hand was loud, disruptive and spoke what was on his mind without a single thought of the consequences. He could be arrogant, reckless, idiotic and very compassionate all at the same time, much to Haidyn's surprise. The lad was also dyslexic and very dependent on people who was close to and trusted. He was very dependent on his brother and mum.
Haidyn learnt that their mum and them left Sunderland because of the twins' abusive father and soon came over to California to be even farther way from the man when he had found them in Glasgow.
By searching through Aidriel's mind and memories, Haidyn knew the boy wasn't nearly as weak minded as his previous victims, he discovered that the seventeen year old human knew what he wanted and knew how to get it. He knew that it would take time and effort to let Haidyn in and show him his true emotions and how he felt about certain things.
He knew Aidriel would be a challenge. One he was up for and excited about starting.
