Wera not a young one anymore spread her wings into the night sky. She was looking for food as she was hungry and her mother fell ill. (Now in Wera's perspective.) I flew over to the closest tree almost on ground. It was a colorful sapling, which I loved to sit on and just think about everything. I'd recently just went through a hard winter. It's now spring and the dark brown leaves on every tree are gone. They are now a beautiful lime coloring. I loved my home so very much. When mother had fallen ill I had to collect food for my young siblings who haven't grown as fast as me. Mother said that I could be bigger than her in just one second without a blink of her eye. Over the weeks and months past my life I never really stopped and noticed the growth my body was doing. I didn't have normal claws like the others. I wasn't much of a bird species my mother new of. As I flew down to the ground to grab some materials and food for the young ones. I started to think when I should leave them and find my real home. Of all the things I've heard no one I know has mentioned anything about my species except my dear mother. She has mentioned a couple times now that my species is a rare Phoenix that no one thought existed until now.

Now exhausted, I sat on my sapling that I had just found a few minutes ago. It was honestly, interesting the way my claws felt on the perch. I started to think about everything. I wanted to take a new path. Of freedom to find who I really am and maybe even a mate to stick with as my mother did. -her wings glisten in the night sky as she flew up onto the old branch her home has stood.- I perched my claws onto the old branch thinking nothing but to give my materials I've gathered to the young ones and quickly try and help my mother as much as I possibly could. I started thinking "Once she's not ill I can go on adventures and really start to feel this world." All though my mother was ill she was getting better bit by bit.

I started to hear something oddly peculiar. It sounded like someone was speaking but it was very bland. -she swung her wing and jumped off the old branch to begin to fly- I began to hear what the voice was saying and right out of nowhere. I heard a gun, and I couldn't feel my wings anymore. -her body falls down onto the ground- I was desperate to get up but I couldn't.
