Normal?

I dragged myself out of bed and turned off my alarm. My school uniform was on my chair in a heap and I put it on, smoothing out the wrinkles. I pulled my hair into a side braid and pulled out the platts.
Skipping breakfast, I brush my teeth, stuff my homework into my backpack, and walk to the bus stop. I wonder if Oliver will be at school today. I mentally kick myself for getting my hopes up. Don't be too disappointed if he doesn't show.
I met up with Melody and Jasmine, like I always do, and filled them in on the hell I'd experienced. And then I told them about how I hugged him without thinking... and how Oliver had hugged me back.
"He's totally into you." Exclaimed Jasmine.
"You should ask him out!" Screams Melody, a little too loudly. I pull my friends into a corner so I could escape all the snickers and smirks.
"I can't even if I wanted to." I say. "He's not at school today." I look down at my shoes and frown.
"Are you sure?" Asks Melody, giggling.
I look up. Oliver is struggling out of a blue pickup truck.
"Go see your warrior!" Laughs Jasmine. I roll my eyes and hurry over to Oliver. He turns to face me and chuckles as I threw my arms around his neck and hold tight. He returns the embrace, holding me close to him. I could feel the eyes of Melody, Jasmine, and probably a lot of other students, but I didn't care.
"I'm so glad you're okay!" I say as I release Oliver.
"I'm pretty sure the nurses asked the doctor to let me leave earlier." He said, smiling. "I think my constant blabbering was driving them crazy!"
I laugh. The bell goes just as I'm about to respond and Oliver offers to walk me to my first class.
I don't know exactly what relationship we have now, but I wouldn't trade it for the world.

Months pass and Oliver soon becomes one of my best friends. We eat lunch together in the cafeteria, and he always splits his cookie with me. He and I study together everyday after school, sitting somewhere with the textbook balanced against our feet. We joined the school play and got the leads, so we run lines together. When it's nice outside, I'll challenge him to a one-on-one basketball game that always results in a tie because we end up playing with each other instead of against.
My life was beginning to become a little more normal, and I like it like this. Question is...will it last?
