Perseus POV

After a couple of hours of restless waiting, hopeless attempts, Artana was not getting any better. Worry was all that racked my body as I paced in front of the tent that they laid Artana in. After a few minutes of waiting, Io walks out of the tent carrying an empty water canister and a distressed expression. I walk towards her hoping to hear some good news, but she just shakes her head and continues to walk pass me. I follow her towards the small stream by the camp, wanting to hear Artana's condition. What I hear is not good, not good at all. As Io kneels by the water she begins to speak, "She's slowly dying Perseus.... The poison is spreading and unless we get some help from the gods, she will die." I nod, now more sorrowful than I was a while ago. My little sister is dying, and I am helpless to save her. Just when Io finishes refilling the canister and I get the idea of trying to pray to my father, we both hear a pain filled scream come from the camp.

On instinct and worry I run towards Artana's tent and rush inside to pull the leader of the Djin away from her. Draco and Solon help me pull him out of the tent and into the center of the camp, where everyone was waiting to attack. All of us men who were armed, all tried an attempt to strike the Djin leader but he threw us all away and stood by himself armed with his staff. Io soon joins us, on guard, and the Djin begins to speak. Since none of us could understand what he was saying I look to Io for a translation and she speaks for him. Io speaks loudly and clearly, "He says the Djin have waited many years for the one who will free them from the gods..." Solon continues to lay under the staff while the Djin leader continues to speak, "He says he is no friend of the humans..." Solon once again gives a sarcastic remark, but the Djin keeps talking, "But the only way we can help Artana and Perseus is together." I look at Io once again then to Eusabius when he catches the attention of everyone, "Draco... look." We all turn to Artana's tent to see her standing there completely fine, except for the dark lines disappearing on her forearm. We all watch in awe as the infection disappears as well as the bite wound inflicted up her by the creature from earlier.

The Djin leader stands up straighter then looks Artana in the eye, extinguishing the blue flame on his staff, and mutters one word in coherently, "Together." Artana nods in agreement and looks to me, then nods once more. I sigh in relief knowing that she is fine, and we all relax. After the shock of what happened dies down, we all go back to what we were doing and Artana leaves for the stream with Eusabius as her guard so she could wash her face from the sweat. For the night everyone settles into their tents, trying to get as much rest as they could, since we had the time to rest.

The next morning as Artana was washing her arms and face again, Draco comes from the canyon to see that her tent was still up right and his face is far from pleased. Io runs forward trying to stop Draco from going any further, "She still needs to rest... she's not ready to travel yet." He brushes her off and pushes pass me before continuing to Artana and Eusabius, "Time is slipping Io." Io runs after Draco as a last attempt but he ignores her, "She may be a demi-god but she's still mortal." Io stops when Draco comes up to Artana and Eusabius and speaks, "Feeling better?" Artana nods, confused before Draco grabs her arm and shoves onto her tent, knocking them both down. Angered I rush forward and push him away from her before he starts to yell at both of us, "Both of you and your pride are killing my men!" Artana stands from where she was thrown and glares up a Draco, offended, "You were given gifts use them." I step back holding my arm out to stop my sister from advancing when I begin to argue with Draco, "Those gifts are a trap." Draco scuffs and looks at us both, "I don't care what they are, use them." He throws the god-forged swords at me but I let it fall, "No! I will not use that sword or anything that they give me!" I look Draco straight in the eye and it seems like he calmed down some when he speaks again, irritating me further, "So we'll just continue to die?"

It was then that Artana stepped forward and stopped at my side, "We can't become like them, Draco." The emotion in her voice was evident, she was determined. I finish what my sister was thinking as I continue to look at Draco, "If we do this, we do this like mortal men." Draco scoffs once again and takes a step towards me, "But you are not just a man, Perseus." Artana speaks up from beside me, "No, but we choose to be." Draco looks at her, "A man cannot do this, Artana... Perseus." Artana was the one who scoffs this time around, "Says who... the gods?" Draco sighs an annoyed breath out and looks at everyone in the camp who were watching our encounter before stooping down to pick up the fallen sword, "If I had your gifts..." he flashes it in my face, looks at Artana, then walks away towards his bag, "When you need your sword, it will be in my bag." As he leaves, Artana and I look after him before we hear shouting causing us to look at the opening in the canyon. We all walk forward as we see the Djins riding the scorpions that tried to kill us just yesterday. I hear a voice behind me say, "They're riding it..." astonished and shock. I nod and continue to look at the scene, when the scorpions stop and a ladder is visibly thrown down so we could get on. Solon steps back then looks at Draco and me before speaking his thought, "They just tried to kill, I'm not getting on it." Just then the two weird brothers shove their way pass us and towards the scorpions, bags in tow. The thinner one of the tow stops for a second beside us, "Magnificent... what are you waiting for?" then he is off again after his brother. I chuckle and look back to my sister who is, non-surprisingly, standing by Eusabius, before I hear Draco speak, "Well, we need to make up for lost time." We all nod and grab our stuff as fast as we could before getting onto the scorpions.

With three different scorpions there, the group splits up among the three so we don't crowd one. Then we were off towards the witches who will help us defeat the Kraken. The journey was slow, but it gave us time to rest and enjoy the view of new places. Draco and I stand outside of the tent on one of the scorpions looking at the landscape in front of us, "We're making good time." Draco looks at me then back out to the land, "Not good enough... the eclipse is drawing near." I nod and look at him as he enters the tent where Eusabius, Artana, and Ixas are sitting. Ixas speaks up as we enter, "How close are we to the Norn Mountains?" Draco sits by the door, then answers, "it'll be two days before we reach the witches." Ixas nods as I sit in the corner by Artana. She smiles at me and I smile back as I hear Ixas groan and hold his stomach, "This thing is making me sick." I chuckle and shake my head then look at Ixas, "It's better to be on one then in one." He starts to laugh as Eusabius and Artana begin to laugh as well. I chuckle along, then look at Draco who looks at all of us then down at the sword in his hand, "Why don't you ever smile." Draco looks at Artana after her guestion, then back down to his sword, "When I spit in the eyes of the gods..." He looks up at her seriously, "then I'll smile." Artana nods as her smile falters a little before she looks at Eusabius and smiles at him. It was obvious she liked him and that he liked her, but just the thought of my sister being with someone bothered me. Even with this uneasiness in my gut I stayed quiet, trying to enjoy the ride. The rest of the rise was eventless and Artana was acting strange with Eusabius beside her but I tried not to let it get to me that much.

My little sister was getting too comfortable with him.... I don't know if that is good or not....
