My dad visits me in an alley

I woke up the next morning and for a couple of seconds, I didn't remember anything until it all came rushing over me like one big wave. I tried to piece things together but my mind was just one big blur. How did I translate that language? I was almost starting to wish that I was at home with my psycho mum. I pulled out a muesli bar, it was dry and it crumbled in my mouth but the food was food.

After travelling for several hours I sat on a gutter.

Are the police looking for me yet?

Are people blaming me for my mum's death?

Why had the room gone all black when mum died?

Millions of questions bounced around in my head waiting to be answered.

As I was sitting drinking stale water I felt something watching me. I was still in the alleys so that no one would see me but I had an eerie sense that someone was watching me. I looked around but no one was in sight.

I sighed for what felt like the 50th time and continued drinking.

Suddenly I heard a deep breath and I whipped my head to the right.

'Don't worry darling, it's just Me.' said a voice.

It sounded just like I'd remembered my dad's voice; calm and gentle.

I stuttered. 'Dad is that you?' I said in a croaky voice. Thinking back, it was probably relatively dumb; just obnoxiously blurting that out.

'Yes it's me sweety' the voice said again.

Something in my head told me to run but I wanted to see my dad so badly that I stepped into the shadows. At first, I couldn't see anything but my adjusted to the light and I could make out a tall figure, not like 6-foot tall figure like a 13-foot tall figure.

I tried to make a run for it but the giant thing grabbed my shirt and dangled me in mid-air. I tried to scream but the giant put its hand over my mouth.

It tasted like gravel and blood.

I could finally see it up close. I had an ugly head and was wearing nothing but a loincloth.

'What are you?' I managed to squeak.

'I'm a Cyclopes my dear' the Cyclopes said in the same voice.

'You're not my dad.' I said confused. The Cyclopes cackled with laughter.

'Of course not, how thick can a demigod be?'

'A demi what now?' I said feeling stupid.

'Aww, you don't even know what you are yet, how sweet.'

I found myself getting annoyed. I kicked the beast and he dropped me in pain. I tapped my watch 4 times and my sword sprung to life.

'Come back her you little runt.' the Cyclopes whined.

Its voice wasn't my dad's anymore, it was gruff and rusty. I jabbed my sword at his leg and blood trickled down onto the pavement with a splat. I jabbed again and the huge thing fell with a moan. I ran up its leg and stabbed it in the back for good measure. I jumped off and ran off not daring to look back.

I spirited out of the alleyway and told myself to stick to the main roads from now on. I was still shaken up and confused about what the Cyclopes had said: demigod.

What did that even mean and how did it know what my dad sounded like?

I pulled out a stale cream cheese sandwich and let the thoughts buzz around in my head. The next thing I knew I was asleep.
