Hollyleaf quickly slipped out of the warriors den and looked around camp. She saw Brackenfur guarding the camp entrance and Hollyleaf walked over to him quietly, making sure not to wake the sleeping cats around her.
"Hello, Hollyleaf." Brackenfur meowed. Hollyleaf looked up at the elder warrior and smiled. "Hello." She replied.
"I have to ask, what are you doing up this late?" Brackenfur asked her. Hollyleaf looked around with bright green eyes, shining in the moonlight then she looked back at Brackenfur.
"Looking for Ivypool. She's not in her nest and as far as I can tell, she's not in camp either." Hollyleaf said. She flicked her tail back and forth a couple times.
"I think she went out of camp earlier." Brackenfur stated, looking thoughtful.
"Thanks." Hollyleaf said and padded out of camp. She set her paw onto the forest floor and leaves crunched beneath her paws.
Other then a noisy owl and the crunching leaves. It was a pretty silent night.
Hollyleaf then started to get worried as she padded deeper into the forest, not being able to even pick up the scent of her friend.
All she smelled was the crispy night air. As she padded on towards the lake, she recognized the familiar scent of Ivypool. She started walking faster towards the lake, following her scent.
She then saw a sleeping Ivypool on a rock, near the lake. Must've fallen asleep while watching the sunset... like she always does. Hollyleaf thought.
She padded over to her. "Ivypool," she whispered. "you did it again." Ivypool didn't even stir.
"Ivypool." She said quietly. Still, Ivypool remained asleep.
"Ivypool!" She said. She shifted, but didn't wake.
"Hey mouse-brain." She said in a loud voice. This time Ivypool woke up. "What? What?!" She hissed. "Hollyleaf?"
"Hello, Ivypool." Hollyleaf said and layed down next to her, placing her tail over Ivypool.
"Hollyleaf, it's literally midnight." She said in a grumpy voice with her tail flicking back and forth.
"I know." Hollyleaf said and started grooming a piece of Ivypool's fur that was out of place.
"So why did you wake me up?!" Ivypool hissed, jerked her head back and faced Hollyleaf.
Hollyleaf felt a little hurt but understood the she-cats frustration. She stared straight ahead of her, not at Ivypool but at something beside her that seemed to be invisible. Then, she faced Ivypool.
"I just wanted you to know I'm here for you." Hollyleaf meowed softly.
"Hollyleaf!" Ivypool hissed, looking very annoyed.
"Yes Ivypool?" Hollyleaf said, crossing her front paws.
Ivypool's eyes softened as she let out a sigh and nuzzled Hollyleaf. "I'm here for you too." She said and curled up next to her.
Hollyleaf felt butterflies in her stomach as Ivypool pressed closer to her. She smiled and licked Ivypool's head. "I know." She whispered and rested her head on her paws as she fell asleep next to Ivypool.
