Chapter 4

{Emma}

We tried communicating with our mother. It was no use.
"Mommy?" Ashley said as she passed through our mother. "Mommy?" She looked confused. Our mother shivered as if she suddenly got cold. Ashley stood behing our mother. She tilted her head to the side, then stuck her hand right through our mother. She shivered, and Ashley withdrew her hand as if it were on fire.
"Ashley, she can't hear us." I said. Ashley stared through our mother. Then, with a mischevious grin she stepped into my mothers body. What was she doing? She stood there long enough to make my mother shiver and say how cold it was getting outside. She stepped out.
"Ashley, stop it." I said. Laney turned her head towards me, as if she heard me. I turned towards her. She quickly looked away. Laney could see us!! I stepped toward her. She took a step back. I stepped closer. She looked at me in horror and took another step backwards.
"Laney, what is it?" My mother asked her.
"Oh, I thought I saw something. A snake!" She said.
"I hope it wasn't poisonous.." My mother muttered. "We better get inside." She said and hurried Laney inside to her house.
No!! Why is Mom helping her?
Cause she doesn't know that Laney is mine and Ashley's killer.
Another thought struck me.
Why can Laney see us?
