I woke up to the sound of the blankets shuffling. The lights were off and because there were no windows in this lab, everything here was pitch black. I can't see anything in here. I threw off my blankets and just got to my feet before I was pulled back down. Hard, bony hands rested against my hips and kept me down. I grab Sans' hand and tried to pull them away. His eyes illuminated the dark with red and blue. "Sleep a little more."

" Shouldn't we get to the castle as soon as possible?"I stop struggling as he sits up pulling my back against his chest while holding my hands in his own. He breathes down the nape of my neck before resting his head on my right shoulder. The room got darker as he closes his eyes. I shiver against his touch and bit down on my lower lip. He quietly says, " You'll need the energy. So sleep some more."

I didn't want him doing any weird things so I could only lie back until he wakes up. He turns on his side away from me so that his back faces towards me. I watch his back as it heaves up. . . and down again.

I watch his back before slowly putting a hand against it. I felt it become tense and the breathing becoming slightly irregular. I rest my head against it and his back relaxes. I smile and lie my head against it. Feeling the soothing comfort for every breath he took.

I felt her press her hand against my back. I felt the way she rests her head against me. I have not felt this safe in a long time. Almost too long. I slowly turn to see if she had fallen asleep. Sure enough, she passed out right beside me. I turn until I faced her. The way her silken hair fell down her face. . . how peacefully she slept despite the situation we were both in. I reached my arms out for her and pull her against my chest. She must have woken up, because she rubbed her eyes and said, " Sans?"

I sigh and kiss the top of her forehead gently.

I can feel his arms snaking itself around my back and around my neck like a pillow. I place both of my hands against his chest and heard the gentle beating of his heart. So warm and gentle. He's not a bad person. I know it. I bury my face against his chest and never want to let go. He places a kiss on my forehead and I savor every gentleness and loving warmth. He brushes the strands of my hair back and looked in my eyes with his.

Although the blue color came back, there was still that red color. His own determination he forged there himself. He must have been hurt and broken from everything that's happened. I close my eyes and let the darkness sweep me into a gentle dream.

Inside the dream, everything was just dark. I was the only one who stood alone. "Hello? is anyone here?"

No one responds back and my echoes die off in the distance. Then whispers of some ancient voices began to quietly whisper to me. They all kept saying the same thing.

The Forbidden Child

The Promised Child

Everything stops when Sans shook me awake. "Hey, get up." He flicks the lights on and I squint at the painful light that attacked my eyes with bright light. I waited for them to adjust before slipping off the couch. The dream was confusing, yet somehow familiar. Was I brought back to life for a purpose? To serve a purpose? "There's something I have to do back in Waterfall so we'll be teleporting there first." I replied with a simple ok before walking out of the lab with him. He takes my hand in his before walking down a dark corner.

One moment we were in the Hotlands and now we were suddenly here at the Waterfalls. He doesn't let go and leads me down a hallway. There was something in the middle of the path at the side. For every step I took, the figure would become clearer. It was a sad looking statue looking down at the ground as the water leaked down from above on it.

I look around and found a discarded umbrella at the side. I pick it up and open it up before placing it over the statue. It began to make random sounds of notes. Sans reaches down and turns the umbrella a little more. Then a soft melody began to play.

It sounds so sweet and I smile at the way it sounded. Small bells being played for this particular melody made it sound like something to be used to comfort someone. I smiled throughout the entire song until it ends and look towards Sans. "So you wanted to give this statue an umbrella?" He shoves his hands into his pockets. "Yeah I did." He still kept his gaze on the statue before finally turning to look at me. "That's so sweet." I smiled at him. He smiles a bit before taking my hand. "C'mon, we should keep going."

He leads me down the hall through the waterfalls and I turn to look at the statue one last time. It almost seemed to say goodbye before everything goes dark again. I turn towards the front meeting the hot air around us, back at the Hotlands. We walked our way down towards the castle. We went inside a small iron door into a familiar purple hall. It looked just like the one in the Ruins. "We're almost there. Stay close and be aware that Chara might be around here."

I nod before following him inside the castle doors into the golden hall where everything began. I began to wander down the hall past the throne room with Sans following behind me. From there, I spotted a room where I woke up. I walk in and Sans follows. "Hey, you know this is. . ." He freezes when I step in front of my open coffin.

I brush a finger across it and let the flower petals on top fall to the ground. My voice came out quietly. "This is where I woke up." Sans walks up beside me and examines the coffin. "You were resurrected here?" I close my eyes, but I had no clue who, what, or why I was brought back. "I don't know. Chara's coffin is empty too."

I look towards the coffin at the very end with the same red heart carved into it. I walk over to it and opened the case. Unlike (Y/n)'s coffin, Chara had golden flowers. Not colorful. They were all stained with blood. At the bottom of the lid were cushions torn to shreds. She must have been desperate to get out. There are no signs of her footprints anywhere either. Either she covered up her tracks with the reset button or- "Sans?"

I snap out of my thoughts to look at (Y/n) crouching by her coffin. I kneel beside her. "Found something?" She shakes her head. "Just a question." I sit next to her and lie against the wall. "What is it?" She twirls her hand around the coffin and says, "If. . . I ever die again. . . would you remember me?" I almost fell to the side of the wall. "Why are you asking that question?"

She just shrugs her shoulder. "I just don't want to be forgotten. . ." I rest my arms on her shoulder. "You won't be forgotten. Of course you won't, so stop asking these silly questions."

He gets up and walks out as if nothing happened. I now know what the dream meant when it said forbidden and promised child. I look at the picture at the side of Chara's coffin and hugged my knees close to my chest. If you look hard enough, you can see all three parts of the red souls represented by familiar looking children. One would have to sacrifice their life to bring back peace. The Promised Child who was to bring back that Peace. . . would be me.
