Against All Odds

Day 237

Kojiro snuck around the corner to the huge mansion. Though he dreaded what lay inside, he knew it would have to be done. 

The wedding was in two days. 

Kojiro knew he could put it to a standstill. 

The wedding would be at the doctor's place. Not many were coming, as far as Kojiro's knowledge, but he would still make a big show. 

He had to come to the mansion. It would fulfill his plan. 

Kojiro noticed a window left open on the ground floor. Perfect. He slipped inside it. 

He was in the kitchen. He snuck around the ground floor quietly, then headed up the stairs. 

Her room was on the third floor. She wasn't asleep. She was looking in the mirror at herself when Kojiro burst in. 

"Rumika!" He whispered. Rumika turned around and gasped. 

"WHAT ARE YOU, YOU FILTHY ANIMAL?!" Shrieked Rumika. Kojiro frowned and narrowed his eyes. He guessed he'd lost weight in the wilderness. He must not be clean either. 

"It's me, Kojiro!" whispered Kojiro. 

Rumika's eyes grew wide. "KOJIRO, MY LOVE!" She yelled, flinging herself at him. Kojiro easily sidestepped her. She plonked on the floor. 

"Quiet. Come to the woods with me." Kojiro whispered. Her eyes grew even bigger. 

"Of course she replied in a velvet whisper.

Once Kojiro and Rumika had left the Kalos estate and headed into the woods for Kojiro's far away cave, Rumika asked, "How far are we going?" 

"A couple miles." Replied Kojiro. 

"That's a long ways to walk. Is that a knife on your belt?" asked Rumika, pointing at a hunting knife on Kojiro's belt. 

"Yes." Replied Kojiro. 

Silence. 

Some minutes had passed when Rumika asked, "How much longer?" 

"At this pace an hour." Kojiro's pulse was quickening. He was thinking about is plan. Would he pull through the terrible act that he had brought Rumika for? 

"Anything for my darling." Replied Rumika in a silky tone. 

Kojiro shuddered. 

Half an hour passed. Another. 

Kojiro spotted his cave. 

"We're here. Go inside that cave and wait for morning." Said Kojiro. "Then I have a surprise for you." 

"Alright." Replied Rumika.
