Seamus was laying in his bed with his hands behind his head. He was staring wide eyed at the ceiling and his teeth were gnawing on his raw, pink bottom lip. Dean was getting ready for bed close by. The other three boys were most likely downstairs in the common room. It was only eight o'clock but Dean suggested going to bed because he was tired. Seamus, not wanting to say no to his best friend, had just nodded.

He wasn't tired though. He didn't want to close his eyes. He was too scared. He didn't want the nightmares to come back. Seamus shuttered at the mere thought of reliving the same horrible dream he's been having. Slowly his head lolled to the side and he watched Dean. The dark skinned male was messing around with something in his trunk, not paying Seamus any attention at the moment.

Seamus sighed and took a deep breath. He had to tell someone. Dean was the best option.

" Dean? "

Dean stopped what he was doing and looked up at the Irish boy, raising his dark eyebrows as if he were asking what was up. Seamus let out a shaky breath then took his hands from behind his head and used them to push himself into a sitting position. He shifted until he was sitting criss cross, his green eyes fixed on the other. He didn't know how to say what he needed to say. What if Dean thought he was a baby? No. Dean was his best friend. He wouldn't think that.

" I . . . I've been having these nightmares. And, um, I'm scared to go to sleep. "

Seamus said lowly then cleared his throat and looked down, avoiding his best friends dark eyes. He played with his hands as he waited for a response. When he got one, it wasn't what he had been expecting.

" Do you want to sleep with me? "

Seamus blinked and looked up, his lips twitching a bit. Confusion was clear in his green eyes and his teeth found their way back to his lip.

" What? "

" Do you want to sleep with me? As in next to me? Maybe if you're next to me, you won't have any nightmares. "

Dean said and stood up from where he was crouched, a smile spreading across his face. His best friend thought it over for a few seconds before he nodded, leaning back and putting all his weight on his arms. Seamus liked that idea. And he was willing to try anything to make those nightmares go away. Sleeping with Dean wasn't something that would normally bother him. Dean was his best friend and best friends slept with each other all the time, right? But at that moment, the thought of sleeping with Dean wasn't just sleeping with Dean. It felt like something more, something bigger.

Seamus gave a shake of head to clear his mind of such thoughts and then ran one hand through his hair. Dean walked over to where the candles were and blew them out while Seamus walked over to his bed. Seconds later both boys were underneath Dean's covers and the smaller of the two was staring at a wall, his back to the other. He was still scared to close his eyes and while Dean fell asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow, he was still wide awake. He was awake even after Harry, Ron, and Neville were in bed. Seamus wondered if he could stay awake all night.

Being awake and alone in the dead of night gave him time to think. He thought about school and quidditch and other unimportant things but then his thoughts grew darker. Seamus started thinking about Sirius Black and how he'd supposedly been in their room a week ago. He wondered what Black would do to him if he found him. Would he kill him? This lead to Seamus thinking about his nightmares and his heart started thumping and his breathing grew quicker. For a split second he forgot that he was awake. He slowly and shakily rolled over onto his back. He looked around the room and noticed all the shadows that seemed to dance before his eyes. The logical part of his brain knew it was just the darkness but that didn't stop him from feeling scared. He felt like he was being watched.
