"The new girl,"

Black combat boots padded through the hallway quietly, trying not to attract too much attention.

"Yes, that's her."

Two small fists clenched.

"Where is her miester?"

Long blonde hair swished silently, spilling over two small shoulders.

"I'm not sure. What kind of weapon is she?"

Dark eyes darted around worriedly, looking for somewhere to hide.

How do you hide from death?

"Black Star," Tsubaki's smile lit up the room as she addressed the auzure-haired boy. He was leaning back in his chair with his clunky shoes propped up on the desk and his muscular arms behind his head. His starry eyes were closed.

"Yeah, Tsubaki?" He raised an eyebrow to show her that despite the fact he was tired, he was paying attention. She twisted her inky black hair around her finger and debated a little before speaking again.

"You remember right?" She asked, her voice growing softer. "There's two new students joining the academy today."

As soon as the words left her small mouth, Black Star was completely awake. His ego was raring to make an impression, and his fists were clenched and ready to fight.

"Of course I remember! A big star like me would never forget that!" He lied through his white teeth, not a drop of hesitation shown. The pale girl sitting in the seat in front of him stood up and clutched her books to her chest.

"Shall we meet them?" She wondered, gazing at her partners juvenile expression. He pumped up his fist.

"Duh," He snickered and began jumping from one desk to another until he reached the doorway.

"Alice," Death The Kid replied to Black Stars question, his ebony hair falling over his eyes. The boy was bent over a single sheet of paper, trying his hardest to draw a perfect circle for some kind of project.

"She is the weapon. Nobody knows who the meister is, not even me. I've never met either of them before." His voice was smoothe and even, but not completely convincing. Black Star crossed his arms and eyed the shinigami with disappointment.

"Don't lie to us, Kid. What's this Alice girl like?" Soul and Maka approached the small group; Soul with his hands in his pockets and Maka with hers behind her back. The bleached boys question seemed to strike a nerve. Kid's compact body stopped moving and stayed that way until he finally sighed and dropped his pen on the desk. Tsubaki quickly noticed how irritated he was and placed one of her delicate hands on his tense shoulder.

"I am telling the truth. I have never met her. But I sense that her soul is... Different. It worries me." Kid admitted. He turned towards Maka slowly, looking at her intensely. She quickly pulled on her pigtails and swallowed nervously.

"They're uneven, aren't they? My pigtails?" She asked. Kid shook his head.

"No, they're perfect. I was just wondering if you could sense something strange about her soul as well."

Maka closed her emerald eyes and exhaled deeply in concentration. After a few moments of silence, she opened them and gazed at Kid sadly.

"No, everything seems normal to me." She said, almost embarrassed that she couldn't sense what her fellow classmate could. Kid's eyes narrowed and he stared at the floor, puzzled. Nobody's soul had radiated such anger to him before. Even though he had never met her, he knew she was not just an ordinary girl. There must be something wrong with her.

"Well I say we go knock some sense into this girl. Who told her she could parade around with a messed up soul?" The exuberant Black Star questioned to nobody in particular. Fair haired and confident, Soul snickered to himself and fist bumped his comrade.

"Yeah. It'll be like a welcoming present." He agreed. Tsubaki and Maka shared a knowing look that was opposite of their impish glares.

"Now, please not on her first day. We don't want to scare them off." Tsubaki said eloquently, placing her hand on Black Stars arm. He jerked it away and gave her a cheeky grin.

"Anyone who gets scared off on their first day just shouldn't be here. Think of it as a test to see if she's strong enough." He suggested, trying to get the brunette on board.

"Nobody is going anywhere." Kid slammed both of his ringed hands down on the table, his paper flying up in the air. The boy-- being as OCD as they come-- was too worked up to notice. This certainly made his companions quiet.

"K-Kid-"

"No," He interrupted Tsubaki, "I will be the one confronting this girl. She is giving off strange waves and I don't like it. Please tell Liz and Patty where I went. They're in Steins classroom."

Then, the uneasy reaper stalked off, leaving even Black Star still and in shock.
