Lovely Last Words

(Human AU)

There was a small party held at the Universe household. The guests consisted of Pearl, Amethyst, Garnet, Jasper, Lapis, Sadie, Lars, and a couple of other friends of Steven's.

They all laughed and conversed with each other, enjoying everyone else's presence.

Jasper was sitting next to Lapis as the blue-haired girl spoke to her little friend Steven.

She turned to Jasper and smiled," Hey babe," she started," do you have any Tylenol?"

Jasper frowned,"No, sorry love," she said before smiling slightly and standing up," but I could go get you some."

Lapis chuckled,"Oh no, it's fine. It's just a small headache."

The larger girl simply shook her head,"Nah, don't worry. I'll be quick."

She turned to leave before stopping and turning back to Lapis. She leaned down and kissed her girlfriend passionately, putting the most emotion and love she'd ever felt into that one kiss.

When she pulled back, Lapis looked at her, flustered and confused.

"W-what...was that for?" she asked, trying to hide the blush that occupied her face.

Jasper smiled warmly,"You never know which kiss could be our last."

Lapis grinned a little and playfully slapped Jasper's side,"Don't say that."

Jasper chuckled,"Alright, I'll be back in a bit."

The larger girl turned and began walking past the rest of the house's guests, making her way out of the house.

She decided to walk, since the store is only a couple of blocks away. Her large hands were kept in the pocket area of her hoodie.

Once she made it to the store, she walked inside and looked around.

Despite being a gas-station, the small store was actually pretty clean.

Jasper looked around and smiled when she caught sight of what she was looking for. A bottle of Tylenol.

She grabbed the bottle and walked to the man at the register.

There, she politely paid for the item and exited the store, walking in the direction of the party.

After a couple of minutes of walking, she heard the sound of tires screeching against concrete as someone sped up behind her.

She had no time to react as someone in the car aimed out the window and fired a gun, hitting Jasper right below her rib cage, before speeding off in the other direction.

She cursed and stumbled backwards, resisting the urge to try and run after the car.

Once she got to her feet, she looked around for the nearest place to take shelter. To her right, she saw a small bathroom area.

She raced inside and fell to her knees.

She brought a hand up to her wound and felt the blood pouring out.

She knew.

Instead of calling an ambulance, the first thing she did was call the person who meant the most to her.

Lapis.

She shakily dialed the number, cursing her now bloody hands for making it more difficult.

Once the number was dialed she brought the phone to her ear and closed her eyes, waiting on the girl to pick up.

It rang for about five seconds, and just when Jasper thought she wasn't going to answer, she heard the sweet voice of the other girl greet her.

"Hey Jasper, where are you? I thought you'd be back by n-" She was cut off by Jasper's voice.
