Kamryn Michaels was a sophomore in High School, and her parents were house estates in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She had a boyfriend, Daniel Mason, and a best friend, Alanna McChester. Kamryn was a cheerleader at Roosevelt High School as Daniel was a Quarterback in their school football team. They were walking to Kamryn’s house on 21st street, hand in hand when Daniel thought of something to say after a moment of hesitation. “Kammie?” He asked quietly, glancing over at his girlfriend. Her hair blowing softly in the wind. Her dark blue, shining, eyes turned over to meet her boyfriend’s eyes. “Yeah?” She looked forward again, starting to swing their hands softly.

“How long have we been friends?”
Kamryn laughed at Daniel’s stupid question. “Since we were in diapers?” She answered. Their parents met at a garage sale fifteen years ago, and ever since then they’ve been friends. “Then can I ask you something serious?” Daniel played with their lingering fingers softly.
“If you propose to me, I will slap your red cheeks off your face.” Kamryn was half kidding, half not. She did a year of Tae-Kwon-Do, so Daniel knew Kamryn was perfectly capable to do that. He chuckled lightly and shook his head.

“No, no. I wanted to ask you to the dance this weekend.” He said truthfully. Kamryn was half shocked at what Daniel was asking. Was this a wonderful dream?
“Of course I would love to go.” Kamryn couldn’t help but grin. Daniel sighed in relief as they reached her house. “That’s good.” Daniel stopped them in front of her front door and stepped closer to her. “I’ll pick you up at 7pm.” He leaned in and kissed her softly. She kissed back as they still held hands. When they pulled away after a minute, she smiled, as well as he did. They said goodbye and Kamryn walked into her house, happily closing the door behind her.

Chance smirked from the living room as he pretended to watch TV, but it was too obvious that he had seen his little sister kiss her boyfriend. Kamryn rolled her eyes. “What?” She flopped down next to Chance on the couch and he just shook his head, smiling.

“You must really love him.” Kamryn rolled her eyes again.

“You know,” He messed up her hair and she immediately whined and tried to fix it, “If you keep rolling your eyes, you might lose them.” He chuckled.

She huffed, blowing a piece of hair from her face and crossed her arms. “You can be a pain in the ass for a big brother.” Chance laughed again.

“That’s what I do. I take care of my pain in the ass little sister.” Kamryn huffed and stood up, making her way upstairs.

“Pita!” She yelled as she walked up the stairs to the second floor. Chance laughed again. “Moron!” Chance and Kamryn have always been really close. If anyone, they were each other’s best friends and knew each other like the back of their hands. They were like the Emma and Regina, or Sam and Dean, or Sherlock and Watson. Always by each other’s sides no matter what or who decided to screw up their life for a little.

Chance helped to raise Kamryn when their parents were busy with their jobs to come home. Although they would fight sometimes, they both loved each other. Kamryn went to the end of the hall to her bedroom, opened the door, and walked into her nice, clean room. She closed the door and sighed, smiling at her red and black room. Her parents helped her redecorate her room from pinks and purples to reds and blacks when she turned sixteen. One of the big milestones. Chance said he only got a new guitar and a new phone for his sixteenth birthday, but if you asked her, she would love to get a new phone.

Hers was falling apart and she had her phone for five years already. Her parents said when she turned seventeen they would think about buying her a new phone. “Six more months.” She sighed as she grabbed her phone from her nightstand and sat on her bed to examine the phone. Cracks littered her screen and the buttons were close to worn out.

She sighed and put her phone down after putting some music on and starting her homework almost immediately. She heard something outside her bedroom window and immediately shut off her music and put her homework down. “Chance?” She called as she grabbed a flashlight and put on her tennis shoes. Chance walked upstairs and entered her bedroom. “What’s up?” He leaned against the doorway. She grabbed her phone too and started down the stairs, Chance following her outside after he grabbed a gun he retrieved from the storage room under the staircase. “I heard something outside...” She explained, walking out the front door and looking around before she started to walk around.

Chance looked around too, his gun cocked and ready to shoot. He and his sister had a thing where he would bring the gun and she’d bring the flashlight and phone. It started when weird things started happening around their neighborhood at night when she was in fifth grade. Chance stayed close behind her as they looked around.

She gulped and froze when she heard a ruffling sound coming from behind her. Chance heard something faint too and looked around quickly. Suddenly a man jumped out of the front bushes. He was dressed in a black tuxedo and his eyes were a faded blue. Kamryn and Chance looked at the man with pure fear.
