Kamryn shown the light immediately at the man and Chance blew a shot, it completely missing and swerving to the right with just once glance of the man. Chance instinctively stood in front of his little sister. “Kam, get the blade.” He turned towards her. She nodded and ran inside to find the blade in one of the kitchen drawers. Chance glared dangerously at the man, who smirked. “Chance Michaels. What an honor.”
“What do you want?”
“Well, your sister seems to have special hearing. Hmm?”
“What do you mean?” Chance gave a warning glare.
“I didn't come here to chitchat. Look, this is your only warning so listen carefully.” He began and slowly stepped closer. Chance was ready to shoot. “Stay away from the Supernatural.”
“Why? What happens?” With that, the man immediately disappeared, leaving Chance alone in the pitch dark with only his thoughts. As he walked back inside, he heard a faded voice. “You're being watched.”
Apparently Kamryn heard it too because she jumped slightly and stared at Chance, scared. Chance made sure Kamryn is okay before he made them hot chocolate and told her what the man said to him. Kamryn frowned as she listened. “So, we’re being stalked? I better tell Danny not to kiss me in front of the house again.” She laughed, but Chance didn’t join along. In fact, he looked serious.
“I mean it, Kam.”
“So some guy is watching us, So what?” Kamryn sighed. “So, we need to be more cautious. Whoever or whatever is watching us means business. I have a gut feeling” Chance sighed, frowning. Kamryn sighed and nodded. She got up and put her empty cup in the sink. “I’m going to bed. All this supernatural shit has made me tired.” She sighed and went back upstairs to her bedroom, settling down under her blanket and turning off her lamp before falling asleep. When she woke up, her brother had started making breakfast downstairs in the kitchen. She could hear his usual morning music playing while he cooked. She got dressed and made sure her backpack was ready before she walked downstairs and put on her sneakers as she walked into the kitchen and sat down in a kitchen chair. “Asia, really?” She smirked and looked at the music playing on Chance’s phone. He looked back at her and raised an eyebrow.
“Is something wrong with Asia?”
“Nah, but it seemed like it was.... The Heat Of The Moment.” She smirked again and he laughed.
“Clever clever girl.” He smiled. She gave him an innocent look. “Run you clever boy and remember.” She looked at her watch and grabbed some breakfast. Chance looked over at her again. “Remember what?”
“You’re gonna be late for class, and you have a exam for English today.” She chuckled. His eyes widened and he grabbed his bag in a hurry, rushing out of the door. He hopped into his car and drove away immediately. Kamryn laughed and shook her head before getting a text message from Daniel. “Do you want to walk to school with me?” Kamryn smiled at it and replied.
“That sounds like a plan, I’ll be outside in a minute.” She put her phone in her pocket and grabbed her backpack, slinging it onto her shoulder. She grabbed her fruit smoothie and left the house where Daniel was waiting outside for her just in time. She smiled and linked her free hand with his before they started walking to school. She told Daniel what happened as they walked hand in hand. Daniel frowned as he listened.
“Are you okay? Did this guy hurt you?” Daniel asked, worried. Kamryn shook her head. “No, I’m fine. He warned Chance that someone was watching us, though...” She looked around them a little, thinking she was just acting paranoid. Daniel nodded a little and held her hand a little tighter. They talked about this weekend’s movie night as they walked to school. She was happy she could spend the weekend with her boyfriend and best friends, Tyler, Warden, Lyndsey, Miles, and Veyya. Everyone was excited as they all talked about it at lunch. Kamryn smiled as they talked, though her mind was somewhere else.
She looked around, feeling like literal eyes were on her. Knowing everyone would consider this crazy, she broke away from the crowd once they got to school, saying she was going to her locker first. Once she was right in front of her locker, she dialed Chance’s phone number and tapped her foot impatiently as she waited for him to pick up. A minute later, a deep voice answered the phone. “Hello?” The voice asked, sounding quite hushed. Kamryn raised a slight eyebrow. “......Chance?” She asked, curiosity was visible in her voice. “Kammy, are you okay?” On the other side of the phone, Chance was waiting in his classroom for class to start. She sighed in relief. “Physically, perfectly fine. Mentally? I’m not so sure... I think someone is or was watching me, but I didn’t see anyone near.” Their neighborhood was good when it came to thieves, and stalkers, so this was very mysterious. “Did this guy say who was watching us or when they’d be? Or do I need to find the closest asylum?” Kamryn cracked a small smile. “He didn’t say anything before he disappeared,” There was a long pause before Chance spoke again. “...but I got what he looked like. Maybe you can research on him at lunch?” Kamryn smiled more at the idea. “Okay, can you text me everything you remember about him?”
“Will do. It might have to wait until my exam is over, though. I’ll try my best.” It was obvious that Chance was hiding something about what he heard last night by the shake of his voice, but Kamryn decided it was nothing and shrugged it off. If it was important, Chance would tell her. With that, she wished Chance luck on his exam and hung up, then joined her friends again and acted like nothing happened. At lunch, she grabbed a sandwich and hurried to research the appearance that her brother gave her.
She walked towards a computer and logged in. While she was getting out her phone to check her brother’s text message, something popped up on her screen and she didn’t see until she looked up. It was a star, trapped in a circle with weird symbols in the gaps of the star. She took a quick picture and texted it to her brother with a caption. “Found this on the screen when I logged on. Seems familiar though.” After sending the picture and her caption, she clicked around the picture, making it disappear.
She started researching on the appearance of the text message when she found some criminal records that fit her description perfectly. She found everything she could and printed everything out before stuffing it into a folder and rushing off to class when the bell rung.
Class went smoothly for the first part, they learned about the Revolution in History, worked on a fake crime scene in Criminology, and started a research paper in English before she was able to walk home with her boyfriend like their usual routine. Daniel talked non-stop as Kamryn reviewed the information she had printed out at lunch. “Earth to Kam, anybody home?” Daniel stopped her from walking before she walked into a street lamp. Kamryn looked up to see Daniel waving his hand in front of her. She put his hand down. “Sorry, what?”
