Meredith looked around. None of the girls were home. Amber had a water polo meet. Kayla had her brother's basketball game. Only God knew where Vanessa was. Amelia was cheering today. And the rest of the girls had gone shopping. Even Heidi was out.
All because Meredith hadn't read her summer literature piece.
Damn procrastination.
She was on the last scene of Romeo and Juliet, and kinda hated it.
She groaned and hit her head against the bed post. Fuck. That hurt!
She decided to go inside and get some ice, finish her scene, and then choose her first day outfit for the following day.
Pressing the ice to her sore head, she smiled as the Capulet's and the Montague's did... whatever it was they had done. Truth be told, she only scanned over it. It was all she needed. And besides, Mr. Reynaldo's tests were beyond easy.
Thunder clashed outside, followed by a strike of lightning. Even though she'd gotten over her fear of lightning and thunder, she still hated being alone when it was raining this much.
She looked at the clock, which read two o'clock. Kayla and Amber would be home in about an hour.
Bored out of her mind, Meredith searched through her closet for tomorrow's outfit. Her outfit was very Boho chic, and included her new Lucca Couture Grass Roots orange color block dress and Cecula's Louis Vuitton brown strap, four inch wedges.
Again, thunder clashed, sending Meredith into a very panicked state of mind. She reached for her phone where she had last left it, but it wasn't there. Maybe it fell? In her state of anxiety, she might've been too preoccupied to not hear it.
She heard footsteps upstairs, in the attic. She bit her bottom lip. The logical part of her told her to get the hell out of there. Scream "Bloody Murder!" Something.
But something was making her stay.
Stupidly and slowly, and walked towards the ladder. Her hand reached out to pull it down. But she never did.
The world went black.
