One year later...
Dan's POV:
The candle flickered in the dim light. I tapped my leg against the chair leg. What if she said no? My lungs froze as she flowed into the room with her dress knee-length.
"Hi!" I stood up to her height and melted into her kiss. She was beautiful. I knew this was the right thing to do. I love her. The ring box dug against my thigh. After an absolute amazing dinner, my heart fell to the bottom of my chest. It's now or never. I kneeled beside her. Her hands raced to her mouth.
"Lily Michelle Lester. I love you. Always have. Always will." I fished in my pocket for the box. "Will you marry me?" Tears were streaming down her face as she stared in awe at the ring.
"Oh my god, of course I will!" She leaned down to my height and pressed her lips to mine. I wrapped my arms around her and lifted her off the seat.
"Let's go home." Lily smiled as her head lay against my chest. The ring was a perfect fit on her skinny finger.

I kicked open the door with Lily under my arm.
"WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT? Phil leaped off the sofa.
"Jesus! Open the door a little quieter please without giving me a heart attack!? Why are you so happy?" Lily beamed at Phil
"We're engaged!" Lily announced. Phil's jaw dropped.
"Wow! Ummmm...... Congrats! I'll put the kettle on. Actually no. I'll get a bottle of wine out."

Lily's POV
It took a little while for it to sink in.
I'm engaged! To Dan!
We told Phil about everything;- from Dan blushing bright red when I walked in to his romantic proposal- over a glass of our favourite wine, the same wine that we'd all drank the night I moved in. He gluged down his glass and stumbled into his bedroom.
"G'dnight." Phil mumbled drunk as he fell into his door. We finished off the bottle and shortly followed Phil.

2 months later...
Dan drove through nearly every red light to get to the nearest Tesco, only 10 minutes away from our flat. He parked messily over 2 spaces. We weren't going to be in there long enough for them to ticket us. I ran straight to the 'Pharmacy' section of the store to receive the only thing that I needed. A pregnancy test. We got home quicker than we got to the store. The key wriggled in the lock. I stumbled over our boxes of stuff - Dan and I were moving out - and sprinted to the bathroom. I had the slight hope that it would be negative. We couldn't afford a baby. Oh god! What if it was positive and Phil found out? He would kill Dan and probably disown me! Dan and I waited with our backs against the bathtub.
"What if it's positive?" I was shaking.
"Then we have a little us." We just sat there staring at each other. 3 minutes.
"I love you, Daniel." I stood up and looked at the test in the sink. Positive. Pregnant. I'm pregnant.
"What does it say?" Dan wrapped his arms around my waist, resting his hand on my stomach. Ever so gently, he pulled me onto his lap.
"Positive." I whispered. My head fell onto his shoulder.
"...Wow." Dan rocked me back and forth, "What are we going to tell Phil?" Dan stopped rocking me and I sat up to stare into his indulgent, chocolate eyes.
"Nothing. We need to find our own place before I start showing. Simples!" I pulled myself. He chuckled.
" So, What do you want for lunch?" The thought of food made me urge.
"I'm really not hungry. Cravings are a bitch!" Dan smiled and let me stand up again. I moved much more aware now, making sure my every move wasn't going to hurt the baby.
"Do you mind if I run down to the shops and get some food?" Dan stood up and pushed the door open. I dropped the test in the bin and covered it to make sure Phil wouldn't find it.
"Dan, I'm pregnant, not dying. Go. I'll be fine by myself for a bit." We stood by the front door.
"Ok. Don't do anything stupid. I love you. I'll be back in 20 minutes, love." He leaned down and kissed my forehead. He rubbed my miniscule belly and smirked. He grabbed his wallet and opened the door.
"I love you too." He walked out the door and down the many steps that lead to the streets of London. I closed the door and lay across the cold sofa. I watched the latest episode of Marvel: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. I rubbed down my stomach. My little Baby Howell.
"I'm home!" Phil had returned from his date.
"Hi!" I turned down the T.V. "How was your date?"
"Oh my god! She is... amazing!" He fell onto the sofa.
"Really? So, when do I get to meet her?" Phil's face dropped.
"Why are your hands on your stomach?" My hands rested on across my stomach.
"Period cramps." Phil face relaxed.
"Ok, well I'm getting in the shower." Phil jumped off the sofa and disappeared into the bathroom. My bursting lungs deflated. Phew. That was a close one.
