Time seemed to go as fast as it possibly could.

The way Jack thought of time was simply that, it skips past the boring parts. It has this unsettling taste for the darkest parts of our lives, it makes sure to pause and rewind at those. It takes the time to analyze every bitter moment, linger on the seconds where youre in that suffocating silence. Because time is sick. Time kills people, time ruins people lives. Yet the most frustrating thing about it would be that everything requires it. Everything takes time.

So its no wonder the happy moments seem to disapear behind you, fade away  like the sunburns and coffee stains, time just doesnt care about the moments where youre happy. It fast forwards through it, happiness isn't times taste.

So it was just another day. Jack and Mark, hand in hand, (even though it did prove difficult for them to hold their lunch trays, it was cute and Mark insisted) on their way to the table.

As usual, Felix and Ethan were there, but Peej wasn't. He sometimes sat with some other kid named Chris, and two other boys with matching hairstyles that Jack couldn't remember the names of for the life of him. But someone new was there today. He was fairly tall-looking, with broad shoulders and curly brown hair. He was sat next to Ethan, and laughing away with the other two.

"Do you know who he is?" Jack said, turning to Mark and gesturing toward the new guy. Jack was surprised to see the dumb smile on his face as he muttered out a small "oh my god" before grabbing Jacks hand and rushing them to the table.

As they pushed pass students, Jack felt a ting of jealousy pain at his chest. His arms became a mixture of just about every color, appearing in splotches like paint being tossed at a wall.

Mark reached a sudden stop at the table, and let go of Jacks hand as he walked around and said, rather loudly,

"Tyler?"

The boy, presumably Tyler, looked up and instantly smiled. "Oh my God, Mark?" Tyler lifted himself off his seat, dragging his hand on the table as he began to walk toward Mark. The two ran up to eachother and hugged briefly, Mark pulling away and looking equally as confused as to excited. Jack's stomach twisted, and he took a step back to sit down as his legs became numb. The jealousy felt unnecessary, so Jack took a deep breath and rested his chin on his palm.

"Wow, it's so good to see you, how are you here? Wait wait, I should probably explain to Jack who you are." Mark said, letting his hand slide off of Tylers shoulder and directing his attention to his boyfriend.

"Jack, this is a friend of mine from a few years back, Tyler. He'd moved off to somewhere east, but I suppose hes back now?" Before Tyler could explain himself on his own, Felix piped up and explained for him that, "His family had hit a rock in the road with his dad's job, and could move back into the house they had previously owned here in LA."

Jack felt a wave of relief hit him, and stood up to properly meet Tyler. "Hi, it's nice to meet you-" he said, shaking the taller boys hand. Tyler opened his mouth, probably for some form of "Nice to meet you," in response, but he didnt say anything as his hand slowed and a puzzeled look appeared on his face. Jack instantly knew why. He pulled his hand back and felt as he turned a bright pink, and waited for someone to explain for him.

The silence felt heavy. Deep. It felt painful, and as sad as it is, familiar.

"Oh, oh yeah! Tyler, this is my boyfriend, Jack." Mark walked over to Jack and slightly tugged on the side of his hood (which he had pulled up out of embarrassment) and silently asked him if he could pull it down. Jack nodded, so Mark took Jack's hood off of his head. His skin continued to alter in shades of pink and blue, shifting in splotches, blending and twisting across his cheeks and flowing across the bridge of his nose.
