You gently caress your girlfriend's face, she lay in bed beside you, her hair resting over her left eye; the scar is faintly visible behind it. She watches as your expression rises and falls. It's new, she nearly died, and now she was visiting you to show what had happened to her when that little girl almost killed her."It's ugly isn't it..." Cinder whispers, her voice crackly and weak. Her yellow-gold eyes seem to darken as she covers her scar with more of her hair. She seems ghostly, the confident and bold person was no longer with you. She seemed translucent, afraid. Carefully, you reach out to her and lift the hair off of her scar.
The flesh on her face is torn and weathered like old leather. You smile warmly at her. "I don't mind a little scar like that," you say honestly. Something like a scar didn't bother you or make you see her differently. "I know it's been hard to adjust for you. I think what's important is that you're alive and I still can see your beautiful face everyday."
Cinder blushes slightly and averts her eyes from yours, a nervous habit of hers. You pull the blanket over the both of you and let her lay against you. "Alright..." she says in her raspy whisper. She can't say a lot now, but the way she curls into you says everything.
She smiles as she feels your heartbeat. You think you hear her mumble something, but aren't sure. "Cinder?" You ask her. She looks up at you and quickly presses her lips onto your cheek. "T-thank you."
