Chapter 1: And So It Begins

As a precaution, the Ninja invited the Sensei, Nya, and Misako to come along with them and keep an eye on Chen. No one quite trusted that he was really just here to take a road trip with them... and with everyone smashed into the latest model of the DB Express, things have already begun to feel a little tight...

*half an hour in*

Chen: *leaning over from the back seat onto Skylor's chair* Skylor, can't I drive for just a few minutes?

Skylor: No. You're not driving.

Chen: But whyyyy not?

Skylor: Because we don't want to have to listen to the horn the whole time. And neither does everyone else on the road.

Chen: But it's a button! You're supposed to push it!

Skylor: Yeah- but only when you need it! Not just because it's fun!

Chen: What's the point of having a button if you can't press it for fun? It's just like the gas pedal!

Skylor: O.o Please never drive...

Kai: *riding in the front seat* O.o *scoots away from Chen*

Jay: *sitting behind Chen* Hey, wait, stop the car! That rest stop has cotton candy flavored slushies! *points*

Cole: Jay, why do you have to be so obsessed with- OOOH, THEY HAVE CAKE! STOP THE CAR!

Lloyd: Uh, guys? Can we stop? I don't feel so good... *starts turning green*

Sensei Wu: Patience is a- OOOH, FERRIS WHEEL!

Skylor: *sighs* Okay, fine, we can stop! *pulls over to the side of the road* *mutters* What is this place, a carnival?

*a sign randomly appears by the side of the road that says Sea of Sand Carnival*

Skylor: ...

Chen: *spooky whisper* It's the author...

Kai: *scoots even farther away from him*

Misako: *opens the car door* Oh, good- I've got a whole list of goodies to pick up! *pulls a 10-foot long shopping list out of her purse*

Jay: *almost runs everyone else over* SLUSHIEEE!!!

Cole: *almost runs Jay over* CAKEEE!!!

Lloyd: *staggers out* I don't feel so good... *stumbles behind a tree*

Chen: OOOH, BUTTONS! *leaps out*

Skylor: Dad, wait! That's someone's-

*car alarm goes off*

Skylor: Electronic keypad. *facepalm*

Skylor finally manages to get Chen to stop pressing the buttons on the car next to the DB Express... and explain to the owner that he wasn't trying to steal the car. They head inside to join the others, and are almost run over by Jay and Cole immediately upon entering.

Jay: BRAIN FREEZE!!!

Cole: SUGAR RUSH!!!

*both of them run off, deeper into the rest stop*

Chen: *spots the slushie machine* Oooh, buttons! What do they do?

Skylor: Dad, you gotta pay for the slushie before you can hit the buttons...

Chen: Pay for it? Who needs to pay for it when you can just steal it?

Skylor: ...I thought you said you'd given up on being evil.

Chen: Oh, right, right. Do you want a slushie, Skylor?

Skylor: I think I'm good... but an asprin might be nice...

Chen: I'll look for one. And get a slushie.

Skylor: *sighs* Fine with me...

*Chen walks off*

Kai: *walks over once Chen is gone* Why did you agree to this? No offense, but it's been...

Skylor: Chaos? Can't agree more. But we'd never have heard the end of it if I hadn't agreed...

Kai: True. But I'm not so sure he's really changed his ways...

Skylor: Neither am I- but time will tell...

Chen: *runs to the slushie machine with his cup* BUTTON BUTTON I LOVE BUTTONS! *starts filling his cup with all the flavors combined*

Lloyd: *staggers in, looking woozy* Hey guys, I think I'm okay- *sees Chen and his slushie mixture of doom* *covers his mouth* *staggers back outside*

Misako: *passes them with a full shopping cart* *waves*

Kai: ...How did she even get a shopping cart here? O.o

Skylor: Better not to ask...

*Nya, Zane, and Wu walk in*

Nya: Hi guys... did we miss much?

Skylor: Naw... just the usual...

Nya: *takes in the scene* So I see...
