It was a tradition for the cheerleading squad to wear their uniforms the day after tryouts. I ended up with my blond hair in a ponytail that gave me a headache and glitter, the school's colors of course, scattered through my hair.

When I walked into the cafeteria, everyone stared out me.I still wasn't used to it. When I sat down, it looked like they wanted me to say something.

"What?" I ask, once I got my lunch.

"Nothing. It's just that Jake's really interested in you." Kati glanced at me.

"That's impossible." I argued.

"Obviously not. I've seen the way he looks at you. Jake really likes you." she shook her head.

I just decided to let her believe that Jake likes me. I would have prefered to finish my lunch peacefully, but Kati always announced the new cheerleading squad. I stood up with the cheerleaders and walked to the middle of the cafeteria.

"Please welcome the newest members of the cheerleading squad!" Kati yelled at the top of her lungs.

I did a couple of flips across the cafeteria and landed in front of Jake. He smiled at me. I looked back and ran back to the squad. The cafeteria applauded.

"Welcome Mikaelah, Olivia, Cammi, and Vanessa!" Kati pointed to where the others girls were holding me up while I did a needle.

When they had successfully caught me and lunch ended, I grabbed my stuff and left, My best friend, Monique, caught up with me as I was leaving.

"Hey." Monique greeted me.

"Hey." I stopped at my locker.

"Since when are you a cheerleader?" she asked me, while leaning against my locker.

"Since yesterday." I answered.

"I thought you hated cheerleaders. You always told me that you never wanted to be one of them." Monique had a confused look on her face.

"I just tried out and apparently did really well. And I don't really hate them. I don't really like them, but I can deal with it." I shrugged.

Monique just shook her head and went to class. It seemed like she was mad at me for some reason. She was never like that. we were friends since we were 7 and she's never just dropped a conversation.

I didnt pay attention much during science. We just watched a video and filled out a small worksheet. I grabbed my stuff and went to cheerleading practice.

The whole time I was stretching, I wondered what was going on in Monique's mind.
