Chapter Fourteen (unedited)

Chris's POV

Eight Years Ago.....

I curse her. I cursed everyone and I cursed myself

It was almost Christmas, two days in fact and here I was stuck in Mr. Caverly's house cause I didn't want to go home

I hated it there and the thing Was, I'd rather look at everyone's happy smiles rather than the stench of blood and alcohol this Christmas

But what I never expected was Andy and Damien got to score a date with the Dawson twins. They flaunted over it while I remained by their side, staring in irritation as they just got their first girlfriends. The eason why I stayed here in Damien's was the fact that I wanted to get away from my family, but I also wanted to stay away from the guys who only thought about their new girlfriends. Other then that, Damien didn't seem to care if I stayed here with them

The only problem here was Salmon

Salmon Caverly, name given by her mother who died from cancer- the odd girl with freckled nose and bluest eyes I've ever seen. Odd girl. I met her mother actually, she was nice- better than everyone. She wasn't just same ones mother but she was like mine too

I mean, I didn't really get to know my mother but the fact was Mrs. Caverly was the first woman I wanted to hold dearly. She was the reason why both Damien and I were friends when she introduced us both in the park when she found me all alone on the swing. I was also waiting for my older brother to come but he never did, so she took me home with her; saying it was too dark for a child to wait

And that's when I met Salmon

You see, Mrs. Caverly loved outdoorsy designs- she even loved fishing since she was born in a family of poverty where she and her father fish for food in the sea or lake. And the thing was- she lover checkered clothings, just as the one I saw on Salmons blanket

Thats how I got the nickname for her....

She was about two months as Mrs. Caverly held her dearly and Mr. Caverly's strong composer seemed to relax every time he sees his little daughter. They were a perfect family

Us being six at the time, Damien had took a liking of me that we decided to be Friends. He was to easy to like too

And that night where I stayed with them, I saw the perfect family I wanted. A family I could never have

Two months after, she died when cancer took over her- but that wasn't really the case. They said her body couldn't hold it any longer but everyone knew she killed herself for it. I wasn't sure why they lied to salmon as to why she died during child-birth

Maybe to lessen the pain that her mother was sickly and that she had planned her death for far too long now. I wasn't really sure. I was just a boy who turned into Damien's friend just from the beginning

During the funeral, everyone had cried except for Damjen and I, he was too naive and young to understand why he couldn't see his mother again but I knew too well because death wasn't something I've seen before

I've seen people die too much that I thought it was normal

Living with six incredibly toxic brothers and a drunkard father, they were basically living the world I knew too much  yet I knew it wasn't good either because Mrs. Caverly made me see what was normal

Yes, I became too engrossed to this family that I couldn't really care less about mine anymore. I mean, everyone was busy  trying to reach their goals in life- leaving those minors in the hands of our father. As much as I hated that they never took us, I accepted the hard truth that I also had to run away from him or at least Leave and forget about everyone
