Tate’s pov.
I hop in the car and jam the keys in the ignition. I’m so frustrated, I feel horrible leaving Owen alone in there with that creep, but I need to get to Maggie. Besides, he’s got Danni. She’ll keep him safe, right?
I sigh as I roll down the driveway and start off towards my house. I haven’t been there in a while. I wonder if anyone’s noticed. Not that I mind, or anything, though. Everyone’s attention needs to be on Maggie.
I pull into the driveway and walk up to the front door where I take a shaky breath and unlock it. Stepping inside, I am hit with the sound of three screaming children, two whining teenagers, one cooking mother, and one ignorant father.
“I’m home,” I call out, putting down my keys and moving to kiss my mother on the cheek.
“Hola, darling. Where were you? Owen’s?” I nod and my mother puts the dough she was kneading in the oven. She reaches up to grab a pot, but I take it down for her, seeing as to how she’s pretty short.
Now, let me explain my family. First, you have my older sister, Artemis. She’s away in college right now. She’s tall, 5’9”, and she has long platinum blond hair, which she got from my dad. Her skin is tan, like my mom’s, and she has what most boys would consider a ‘perfect body’. She’s smart and she’s attending her third year in Princeton on a full scholarship. Do you see my pain? She’s the one I have to live up to. How am I supposed to do that? I don’t think it’s possible.
She’s still pretty cool, though. She’s nice to me and gives me advice. She’s the first one I told about my crush on Owen. She was totally excepting. I suppose it isn’t her fault that she is perfect AND was born first.
Next to Ms. Perfecto, there’s me. You already know me. I’m not going to elaborate on that.
After me, you have the twins, Harley and Bailey. Harley is like Artemis, except her hair is chestnut brown and I see no top-notch college in her future. She’s rebellious and ignorant, but I love her anyway. She’s my little sister. She’s short, like my mother, standing at 5’3” and she likes to wear combat boots and the color black. She would die her hair back if my mother wasn’t so strict. She’s a genius, but her grades don’t reflect it. She just doesn’t try. She won’t let mom know that she’s smart, either.
Bailey is a total introvert. He’s just about as shy as you can get, panicking at even the slightest attention. He has an anxiety disorder and tries his hardest to stay out of the lime light. He’s a total nerd, seeing as to how he reads all the time, and would be a target of most bullies if it weren’t for Harley making it clear that if anyone touched him, she’d waste no time castrating them. He has my mother’s thick, curly, raven black hair that falls over his face, and he has bright green eyes, also my mother’s. The only thing he got from my dad is his eyelashes, which are thick and long. Both of the twins are 14.
After the twins, you have Kaylie. She’s your typical energetic 12 year old who loves gymnastics and wants to go to the Olympics. I think she has a chance. I’ve never seen a twelve year old flip like her. She has my father’s brown eyes and straight blond hair. She loves the color pink and being annoying and going into my room. As I said, a typical 12 year old.
After Kaylie, there’s Jonah. He’s 10 and he loves cars. I don’t even know why, but he does. He has my mom’s black hair, but it’s straight like my dad’s and it always gets in his eyes. I think his hand spends more time pushing it back than anything else.
Next in line is Kason. He’s that energetic, innocent kid that always brings a smile to your face. He’s 8 years old and I’m convinced that he’ll grow up to be just like Owen, except minus the blue hair, because there’s no way my mother will ever allow him to do that.
