It was late at night and Dean was sprawled lazily over Jenny's couch. The nerdy wizard boy, whom Dean did not trust on principle, had claimed the guest bedroom after Sam and company did not return.
"Quick trip," Dean muttered beating a pillow he had pulled from the backseat of his Impala into a more comfortable shape. "Quick trip my ass."
Dean never expected trips to be quick. Growing up, he had learnt to never trust when his father said he was going on a quick hunting trip to kill some miscellaneous monster. Dean hadn't had to worry over when his father would return for some time, but the hollow feeling he felt now as he waited for Sam to return was just as bad (if not worse) than when he had waited for his father to return.
The waiting would not be quite so bad, Dean realized, if it weren't for the fact that Sammy was with the Doctor. While the Doctor always promised his companions he would keep them safe, there were some things he just couldn't prepare for. Aliens were much more unpredictable than the unnatural nightmares Dean dealt with on a daily basis.
Upstairs in the guest bedroom, Harry listened intently to Dean's stirrings. Harry was horribly hungry, but he knew that the hunter didn't like him, and though Harry was no coward, he knew not to get in a cranky hunter's way. So Harry remained upstairs waiting for Dean to go to sleep so that he could sneak down to the kitchen and magic him up some grub.
When he was sure Dean was down for the count, Harry tiptoed down the stairs. His heart race increased as the last stair gave out a loud squeak. With a quick prayer that it didn't wake Dean, Harry continued to the kitchen.
Dean heard the squeak plain as day of course, he simply couldn't muster the cares to get up and bother the little nerd. But when he heard the gigantic crash of pots and pans across the kitchen floor, Dean had to get up to scare the poor bastard.
"What the hell are you doing in here?" Dean demanded gruffly.
Harry jumped and his hand automatically twitched towards his wand. "Na-nothing. Was just trying to fix some supper."
Harry immediately cursed himself for his stutter. He was Harry-Freaking-Potter! He had defeated the Dark Lord Voldemort. He was not scared of Dean Winchester.
Dean fixed Harry with a glare and Harry changed his mind. He wasn't just afraid of Dean Winchester, he was terrified.
"Well don't just stand there!" Dean barked. "Come on, we gotta pick all this shit up. And if you wanted to eat you could have just came down like a normal person instead of trying to act like a damn ninja."
"I wasn't trying to be like a ninja," Harry muttered as he bent over to retrieve a fallen pot. "I just didn't want to bother you."
"Yeah well you failed that mission, kid," Dean grumbled.
"Is there anything that doesn't bother you!" Harry snapped.
"Sammy, beer, and hot women," Dean replied.
Harry cast his eyes to the sky and tried to think happy thoughts. Like maybe the Doctor would be back soon. He did say it was only a quick trip.
*Three Days Later*
It had been three days and the Doctor, Jenny, Sam, John, and Sherlock had yet to return. Dean was constantly pacing the hallway. He refused to even let Harry mention the idea of going out and searching for them.
"They could be in the damned future eight hundred light years away from here!" Dean exclaimed. "What's the use?"
Harry shrugged. "It would be a better thing to do then sit around here all day, plus Jenny is about out of food."
Dean's thoughts were immediately over taken by the sweet sweet possibility of pie. But no, he just couldn't get himself to leave. Pie could wait, Sammy could not.
Harry sighed, exasperated. All Dean did was complain about how he missed Sam and how he wanted to get out of the house. But, when presented with the option he flatly refused. Instead he would go out to the road and work on his stupid car. It was maddening. Harry was sure if Jenny and the rest didn't return soon he would go crazy.
As soon as the thought left Harry's skull the vroom vvooomp vroom of the TARDIS could be heard.
"Sammy!" Dean yelled as the TARDIS appeared in the corner of the living room.
The door was opened a second later and six disgruntled characters tumbled out.
"Um, did you not leave here with only five people," Harry asked the Doctor.
The Doctor sighed. "Why yes we did. But it seems things got rather complicated on our field trip."
