There was only one word to describe the state that Jenny was currently in: flabbergasted. As she walked into the TARDIS she could not notice anything other than the sheer largeness of it. When the Doctor had first forced everyone in, Jenny had had no idea how they could all fit. Now she understood.
"It's bigger on the inside," Jenny breathed.
The Doctor smiled proudly like a parent bragging about their child's accomplishments. "Yes. That seems to be the opinion of many who see her. I have tshirts somewhere saying that. Isn't she magnificent?"
Jenny nodded as she was currently unable to remember how to use her voice.
Sherlock opened his mouth as if to say some smart ass thing about the small mindedness of his companions, but as he was about to vocalize his thought John stomped politely on his toe.
"Be nice," John growled underneath his breath.
"But John," Sherlock whined.
It was at that time that Sammy chose to trip over one of the many things poking out from various places in the TARDIS' counsel.
"Oof," he said as he tried to catch himself. "Have you booby-trapped this place Doctor?"
"Nooooooo," the Doctor blushed and ran to the main counsel.
"Could have fooled me." Sam replied.
The Doctor's childish blush deepened and he attempted to change the topic, "so where are we going?"
"Somewhere spectacular!"
"You're going to have to narrow that down. I've been many spectacular places."
Jenny thought. She pondered over all the places and things that she had ever wanted to see, but they all seemed so small, so trivial, when faced with all of time and all of space. Surely none of her companions would ridicule her choice though.
"I would like to visit the pyramids when they were first being made." Jenny decided.
The Doctor pondered if he would be crossing any of his time streams by doing this. After a second more he decided he could probably get away with it quite easily.
"Alright," he said, "to Egypt we go!"
With that the Doctor ran and bustled around the console as he pulled and flipped various switches, knobs, and buttons. Jenny, unprepared for the bumpy ride, was knocked over onto her butt while the remaining party managed to find something to grip in order to keep up straight. There was one last loud whirring sound and the Doctor suddenly stopped his frantic dance.
"Well," he said impatiently as Jenny slowly peeled herself off the floor. "Are you going to go see what's outside or what?"
Jenny opened the door to come nose to nose with bricks. Except it wasn't exactly the kinda of bricks from a pyramid. And it was kinda dingy looking. And Jenny was like 98% sure they were not in the Egypt of her short lived dream, but in New York.
"Um, Doctor," Jenny said, "you certaintly took me to see some spectacular architecture."
"I know!" The Doctor enthused. "Isn't it great."
"Um, Doctor, the only problem is it's that hotel thing in New York."
If the Doctor was a cursing kinda guy, he probably would have said something along the lines of, "Damn, not again." The Doctor, however, was trying to keep his language strictly pg, and anyway the TARDIS automatically filtered cuss words so it would have done no good.
The Doctor instead put on a very happy looking smile, one even bigger then before- if that was possible- and said, "Perfect! An even better adventure!"
Jenny looked at Sam who shrugged and added, "Well, at least the city has airconditioning."
The party left the TARDIS and began to walk the streets. In order to avoid getting lost, short little John stayed close to Sherlock. John believed that Sherlock's superior skills of deduction and noticing random ass shit that no one else seemed to notcie would keep him safe. Plus Americans were all quite crazy and he didn't trust the wild city of New York to be very kind.
"Doctor, this is nice and all, but shouldn't we be getting back?" Sam asked. "You promised Dean a quick trip and you've already proven to Jenny that time-traveling works and-"
"Sam, I have a time machine. It'll still be a quick trip from Dean's perspective, stop worrying so much."
Sam of course couldn't just stop worrying. The Doctor seemed to be forgetting that the TARDIS had malfunctioned. Instead of sending them to good safe Egypt, they ended up in the middle of New York. Trouble was bound to follow.
And that's exactly what happened. When they reached Time Square a guy in blue and red spandex was zooming around on what looked to be spider webs. Sammy sighed.
"Spider-man? How much crazier can this get?" John wondered allowed.
"By the looks of the man chasing him, much more," Sherlock replied.
"Well shit. Doctor I do believe it's time to go home," Jenny said and turned to the Doctor.
But the Doctor was no longer with them. He had ran forward, brandishing his sonic screwdriver, to help Spider-Man save the people.
With a buzzing from his sonic screwdriver at the electronic devices of the super villain, he fell quickly from the sky. Spidey quickly shot his webs to save the man from going splat.
The crowds cheered. The Doctor returned. Spider-Man followed.
"What even?" Jenny asked.
"Hi," Spider-Man said. "Thanks for the help umm"
"Doctor," the Doctor supplied.
"Who?"
"Just the Doctor," the rest of them said in chorus.
"Riigghht. Well thank you for the help. Gotta fly." Spidey did a salute and started to leave.
"Wait!" Jenny called. "Can I get an autograph? Big fan you see."
"Sure thing. Anybody gotta pen?"
"There's one back in the TARDIS. It's only a block or so away," the Doctor replied.
"Then lead the way."
