“She's finding it hard to cope - her hopes have been dashed, the future she dreamed about has gone and she's scared about that. There's nothing in its place. She wants you back. She doesn't want to let go of everything it meant to her.

Because the world seems horribly big and empty. Because the future is a very frightening concept when you'd previously planned on sharing it with someone. Because she's a girl, she's a romantic and she fears if she lets  go of her dream, she'll live a nightmare. Because she has a hope and she fears if she lets her hope go, who will she be?

The effort, the pain of clinging on is preferable to the wide-open fear of letting go.”

"Caroline, what's up with you lately? You haven't been eating anything recently, all you've been doing is watching, what is that?" Elena asked picking up one of the many DVD cases sitting infront of Caroline, before scrunching her nose up, "pretty woman?"

Caroline let out a deep breath, ignoring Elena. She grabbed her phone from beside her, checking for any messages - silently wishing Tyler would get back to her. She sighed, "he's not going to call me back."

Elena's face turned gentle, "You broke up with Tyler, didn't you?"

Caroline nodded, having no sympathy in her face.

3 Days Earlier -

"You didn't come back to Mystic Falls for me, did you, Tyler?" Caroline questioned. A single tear shed down her cheek as she stared at Tyler. Tyler didn't answer, he let out a deep sigh before shutting his eyes firmly. "Answer me!" She cried, never once breaking eye contact with him.

"Caroline, I love you."

"It's Klaus, isn't it?" She whispered, "you came back for him, because you want revenge. You can't let go of the fact he turned you into a hybrid."

"He wrecked my life, Caroline!" Tyler snapped, "he hurt everyone I loved, he killed my mother..  I'm not going to let that bastard get away with that."

Caroline shook her head before taking a step away from him. "I'll give you a choice," she said, "you can go seek revenge on Klaus and lose me, or you can forget everything that's happened - and finally be with me."

Caroline watched as Tyler thought for a second. He scrunched his eyebrows together, narrowing his eyes at Caroline. She knew exactly what his answer was at this point.

"Walk away then, go on. That's what you do best, right?" Her eyes were now filled up with tears as she shoved Tyler in the chest, letting out her anger. He winced in pain as he hit the tree from behind, groaning in pain.

"Caroline?"

She immediately turned around, searching the woods in her presence. She silently hoped no one saw the commotion that'd just happened between herself and Tyler. Before she turned back around to Tyler.. She'd noticed he wasn't there. He'd left her stranded, alone and broken in the woods.

Elena warmly slung her arm over Caroline's shoulder before squeezing her hand. "Lighten up, you're Caroline Forbes. One of the strongest girls I know."

Caroline smiled slightly, leaning her head on Elena's shoulder, "oh and don't bag pretty woman! It's a good movie."

Elena chuckled before clearing her throat, "Damon and I aren't on good terms either, at the moment."

Caroline cocked her head up at Elena, shuffling her body around to face her, "what happened with you two? You were fine the other day at Matt's party!"

She rolled her eyes, "Katherine, that's what happened."

Caroline raised her eyebrows, "what did that bitch do this time?"

"What doesn't she do?"

"Jesus, Elena, you make me sound like a slut!" Katherine snickered from the hallway, "oh and next time guys, lock the door."

"Maybe that's because you are a slut, Katherine." Elena murmured. Caroline and Elena glimpsed at each other, rolling their eyes. It's funny how they knew what each other were thinking.

"Ouch," she chuckled before plopping on the chair, sighing deeply as she smirked to herself. "I saw your little hybrid boyfriend Tyler, Caroline. He said to give you a message, 'tell her I'm sorry and that I love her.''" She laughed, "I did you a favor and told him you were hooking up with someone in college. You should've seen the look on the poor guys face."

Caroline shot up off the sofa, her body filling with rage. "You what!?"

"Was I not supposed to do that?"

"No! You fool!" Caroline squeezed her hands into tight balls, her body tense. She desperately wanted to walk up to Katherine and physically snap her neck. She decided not to, as she was hungry from not feeding in a few days. She didn't have the strength to fight with Katherine today.

"Perfect!" Katherine smirked, her eyes dancing with excitement.

Caroline took a few deep breaths before sitting back onto the sofa. She wanted to grab her mobile and call Tyler, telling him that what Katherine said wasn't true - she'd never do something like that to him. She then remembered he'd chosen to leave Mystic Falls, once again, to find Klaus. Instead of being with her.

"Anyway I just popped in to give you that message," Katherine got up from her seat, walking towards the door. "I'm off to go find Nadia, she apparently wants to have a mother-daughter talk."

"I. Hate. Her." Caroline growled with annoyance.

Elena looked over at Caroline before noticing she'd squeezed her fingers through the leather sofa. "Wow, Caroline-

"Crap!" Caroline exclaimed.

Elena chuckled, "that's Katherine for you. Making people put their fingers through sofas since 1473."

"You're not wrong there." Caroline laughed as she stared at the damage she had just done to the sofa.

Caroline and Elena jumped as Caroline's phone started ringing. Caroline sprinted to her mobile, hoping it was Tyler calling to tell her he's coming back to live with her. And they'll live together forever and be happy with each others presence for eternity.

"Hello?"

"Caroline, it's Damon, are you with Elena?"

Caroline couldn't help but feel slightly disappointed before she covered the speaker of her phone, facing Elena-

"It's Damon," she whispered. Elena raised her eyebrows.

"Tell him I'm not here." Elena muttered.

Caroline nodded, "she's not here, Damon."

"Do you think I'm that stupid?" He questioned.

"Yes- I mean, no. Of course not."

Damon hung up the phone, making Caroline chuckle to herself. "Now tell me what's going on with you and Damon." She asked Elena.
