Chapter 4: The Friendzone

Oz's P.O.V.*

Alice and I were messing with Gil by showing him a cat, which is pretty fun when nobody is around to scold me, but I stopped when Break and aaahhhhh Aurora popped out from under the table.

"Aurora!" I yelled as I threw a cat at Gil, which made Alice crack up, "How did you do that?! I've tried to learn, but it's never worked for me."

I sat down on the couch and hung my head a little. If she won't like me because I'm "younger" then her, I'll just make her think I'm adorable!

"I don't really know how... But sorry, Kid!" She smiled at me and ruffled my hair. I think it's working!

"Have you seen Sharon, Gilbert?" Break walked over to Gil and tried to whisper to him, but I overheard. He held onto his cane and looked slightly worried. I guess he doesn't want to relive the time Sharon was kidnapped by Echo and Vincent.

"No, haven't a clue where she is. I thought she was with you guys," Gil said to Break as quietly as he could. He never was that good at whispering, but I guess that's alright.

Aurora sat down at the armchair diagonal from me and crossed her arms as she slouched down a bit. She began tapping her foot, and a few seconds later, her cat chain appeared in her lap.

"Uh... Aurora? How did your Chain appear on your lap out of thin air?" I asked as I scooted to the left so I would be closer to her chair.

"Oh... It's one of his, Rascal's, powers," She said as she pet the cat and it started to purr.

"Huh... Cool! Can it do anything else?" I grabbed the arm of the couch and kicked my legs up.

"Well yeah. He can do a lot of other things, but mostly for battle," Aurora put her arms behind her head, closed her eyes, and smiled ever so slightly, like she was listening to birds chirping in a beautiful garden.

"Can you show me some time?" I laid my head on my hands and smiled at her. I really hope she's starting to like me... She's just so gorgeous! Just then, Alice hopped over onto the couch and grabbed me by the arm.

"Hey! What did I say earlier?! Oz is my property and you don't get to interact with him!" Alice yelled as she pulled me over to the other side of the couch. She fell over onto the floor which made me fall on her which made Aurora laugh.

"Ok! I won't interact with him! But it seems to me that you have a little bit of a crush on someone," Aurora winked at Alice and crossed her legs, which made Rascal annoyed.

"What's a crush? Can I eat it? Is it meat? Is it sour? I don't like sour things," Alice said as she pushed me off of her and crawled/walked on her knees over to Aurora. Alice put her hands on the chair and looked at Aurora like she was starving.

"Ha ha! No, it's more like when you love somebody and don't want that person to love other people. Kind of like jealousy," Aurora said as she turned to her right to look at Alice. Rascal finally gave up and jumped off of her lap, but disappeared before hitting the ground.

"Oh... Sharon has talked about jealousy before. It was weird and had kissing in it," Alice said as she sat down on the floor and crossed her arms like she knew everything already. I remember that... Sharon beat me with a fan when she found out that Alice and I have kissed. It was actually a really good kiss... I liked it.

"Well.. I guess it could have kissing in it, but not immediately," Aurora said as she stood up and walked over to me, "Do you have a crush on Alice?" She asked as she knelt down in front of me. I was also sitting on my knees, but I backed up a bit and I could tell that my face was getting red. Alice looked at me and back at Aurora, then crawled behind Aurora and put her hands on Aurora's shoulders. Alice smiled evily at me and Aurora could tell that I did. Dammit! Did I just think that?! How could I have a crush on Alice!? She's my best friend!

"Now, Aurora, stop terrorizing the children," Break said as he helped Aurora off the floor and pushed back the little bit of hair that fell in front of her face. Oooohh... It seems like something is going on here... This'll be good!

"Thanks, Break," Aurora said as she pushed his hair on the left side of his face behind his ear. They both smiled and then I knew something was happening between them. Alice started playing with her hair and she leaned back against the couch.

"Well, I'm going to look for Sharon," Break said, adjusting his cane, "Good day!" And with that, he walked into the china cabinet at the side of the room and left. Aurora sat down in the arm chair with a sigh and curled her legs up behind her.

"Ooohh! So you and Break, huh?" I teased Aurora as I smiled and laid down on my stomache with my legs kicking back and forth in the air.

"It's not like that," Aurora's cheeks turned bright red and she looked at me, "What do you think?"

"Well, from the looks of it, it seems like Break has a major 'crush' on you," I said as I smiled. This was so good! I loved it! When they get married and have kids, I hope they name one Oz!

"No... I don't think so... But he is pretty cute," Aurora said as she kicked her legs over the arm of the couch and let her head and hair fall off the other arm, "You know... You act a lot like my friend back home, Oz. You're cool."

Oh. My. God. Was I just... Friendzoned?

I can't believe it! I was FRIENDZONED! FRIEND. ZONED. Nobody friendzones me! This is impossible!

"Uh... Kid? You in there?" Aurora asked me as she flipped over again and tapped me on the head with her index finger.

"Huh? Uh yeah. Sorry."

*Yes I'm giving Oz a P.O.V. even though this story isn't really about him. It'll just be funny I guess. I also realize that he would have no idea what the "friendzone" is, but I don't really care. You're just gonna have to live with it.
