I quickly dressed in a pair of sports leggings, a sports bra with a tank top and threw my hair up in a ponytail after I decided to go find the gym in this place. I grab the extra electronic key Arlo left for me, my phone, and headphones before taking the elevator down to the lobby. It didn't take long to spot the front desk.
"Hi, where is the gym?" I asked the blonde lady behind the counter. She looked at me curiously.
"I'm sorry, do you live here?" she asked skeptically.
"For the time being," I answered. She still didn't look convinced. I resisted the urge to roll my eyes as she eyed me. "I'm a guest of Arlo Mason. Here's the key, and you can even check the security tape from last night," I said calmly but sarcastically, even though every being of my body wanted to chew her head off. It was safe to say that I was getting irritable. I stood there as she did just that.
"Hey, what are you doing out here?" I heard from behind me. I turned to see Arlo walking in. I sighed and turned to face him fully as he placed a fleeting kiss on my lips.
"I was trying to find the gym, but apparently, I look like I don't belong here. And the security tapes need to be checked to see if I'm lying or not," I said. "You got off early," I noted.
"I figured I would get more done here with you and I didn't have any more meetings for the day," he answered quickly. "Sarah, this is my girlfriend, Lyra. She lives here with me, and this won't happen again," Arlo said to the woman sternly. Her entire face and neck turned red as she looked at him embarrassed.
"I-I'm sorry Mr. Mason. You can never be too careful these days," she said quickly giving her excuse before looking down at her desk and pretending to be terribly busy.
"Come on, I'll show you," Arlo said to me. We weren't even completely gone yet before she was on her phone texting someone. I had a feeling someone was about to find out about Arlo's new girlfriend. It would be interesting to see who. I followed Arlo down a hallway to a glass door that led to a gym. There was another door on the other side that led to an indoor pool and Jacuzzi. The gym had the standard treadmill, free-weights, stair-master, and some machines. But now that Arlo was back, I needed to talk to him about where I would stand at the office.
"Were you going to work out now?" he asked.
"I was going to go to pass the time, but now that you're back, I'll head back up with you," I decided out loud. Arlo wrapped an arm around me as we walked back to the elevators and went up to the suite.
"We can go for a swim later if you want," he suggested. I nodded as I went to pour myself a glass of water. My throat was getting dry.
"So tomorrow, I'm going to the office with you but we should talk about what it is I'll be doing," I started as I took my glass to the couch. Arlo sat next to me and waited.
"I know you won't technically be working there," he started it off. I nodded.
"I'd be more of a... freelancing consultant," I tried to word it as professionally as possible. Of course, Arlo was a little busy checking me out as we sat there.
"Sounds good to me. Whatever you want to call it," he chuckled as he inched closer to me as his hand held mine.
"Go get changed. I'll take you down to the pool before dinner. We'll go out," he said. I chuckled at his dismissiveness before I stood.
"Alright.. Maybe for an hour or two," I gave in. I went to my room and dug through my clothes for the Triangl teal neoprene two-piece swimsuit that Kristen sent along. It was a bandeau top with zipper in the front and the bottoms were cheeky. I pulled my hair out of the ponytail and fluffed it out before putting a loose-fitting swim cover over it and grabbing my flip flops before going to meet Arlo back in the living room. He was already in a pair of swim trunks and a t-shirt.
We walked back down to the pool. I noticed that Sarah avoided eye contact with me as we passed the front desk. Arlo opened the pool door with his electronic key and we were immediately hit with the humid, warm air. I sighed and relaxed slightly. I set my flip flops and swim cover on a chair nearby before going to stick my feet in the Jacuzzi water. Two seconds later, the jets roared to life. Arlo strolled over and sunk into the water next to my feet.
"The water feels great," he said, standing up and placing his hands on my waist. I rolled my eyes playfully before I sat in the water next to him.
"Kris called me today," I stated as casually as I could.
"Oh?" Arlo answered as his arms wrapped around me. I relaxed into his side and let the jets massage my muscles.
"He wants us to come to his charity event. Well, technically me," I explained. Arlo looked at me curiously.
"You want to bring me with you?" he asked. I shrugged.
"I mean, I'd like you to come with me," I said hesitantly. He chuckled and placed a kiss on my head.
"If you want me there, I'm there," he promised. I smiled lightly and just relaxed and reveled in the feeling of the hot water beating against my back and Arlo beside me. I was enjoying this entirely too much.
After another half hour, we went back up to the suite and showered and changed. I got into a red bandage-dress with a sweetheart neckline and V-neck illusion. It had a triangles of skin between the cup of the dress and the straps. It ended right before my knees and hugged my curves nicely. I paired it with some simple black heels before meeting Arlo in the living room. He was dressed in a pair of black slacks and a navy blue button up; casual formal.
"Ready?" he asked. I nodded as Arlo offered my his arm.
