It was an average Saturday in Mullingar for Niall and I, we had about three or four bags of sweets and chocolates surrounding us while we were watching Finding Nemo on the tv in his room. This was really how every weekend went, we would meet up and watch a movie, usually because it was raining, but on the rare occasion when the sun would come out, we would visit the lake that's about a 10 minute walk from near where we live and sit there and eat our food instead. I say where 'we live', we don't live together, and we're not even dating, we just happen to be best friends who live three doors down from each other.
When I was four I moved to Mullingar with my mum and older brother Luke, my mum never told me a reason when I was that age as to why we had to move but I later learned it was to do with my father and the fact he was an awful dad. Mum had told me and my brother to go the park that was at the end of the road, so we did, and there was Niall playing football with his older brother, he had on his blue and white football kit and was asking his brother if he was good enough for the team yet. Being four and nosy, I went up and asked if he wanted to be friends, he looked me up and down once and with a nod of his head said yes and we played football for the rest of the afternoon until the sun set in the sky and the air became too cold that running didn't warm you back up again. Turns out that whilst we were playing football, Nialls mum had seen my mum struggling to haul box after box of our clothes and went to help, so when Luke, Niall, Greg and I all came back covered in mud and smiling, our parents laughed and Maura invited us over for dinner. We used to play football a lot until I realised I couldn't actually play, but by then I didn't care, I just enjoyed Nialls company.
A lot of people wonder why we're not dating, because normally they say that great couples start of as best friends first, I don't know if I believe that or not, but I do love Niall, but it's more the sibling love, I think going out with him after I saw him eat that worm when he was 7 would freak me out. And once he put a snail down the back of my shirt when we were 11 and I don't think I can ever fully forgive him for that.
Turns out the movie had finished because before I knew it Nialls hand was waving infront of my face,
"Chloe, anybody home?" now clicking his fingers, I quickly nodded and smacked his hand out of my face,
"Move your hand idiot" I shouted, he looked sad and then winked and went to push me off the bed we were sat on watching the movie.
"Oh no you don't Niall, last time you did that you broke my wrist." That was true, when we were 6 he pushed me off the bed and I had to have a cast on my wrist, I choose red because it was mine and Nialls favourite colour.
"Alright I won't this time," he said and sat back down. Now the normal tv was on and an advert came on for the new XFactor auditions. I always wanted Niall to audition and this year he was old enough,
"You auditioning this year mate?" I asked him,
"I don't know, I don't think I'm good enough," He shrugged and looked almost sad.
"Niall James Horan, you will sign up for that God damn show if it's the last thing you do, you will go on and you will blow the judges away with your incredible talent alright?" Niall nodded,
"Sign me up, Chloe. Let's go perform to Simon Cowell!" He shouted, fist pumping the air and jumping around on the bed. That, ladies and gentlemen, is why he's my bestfriend.
