"Welcome students, to a new school year!" the teacher exclaimed enthusiastically.

Damian scoffed. He was not glad to start a new year of school. No matter what they learned, he already knew. There were no one in this school who could teach him anything. Of course all the teachers where morons who couldn't teach to save their lives, but someone should at least be able to give him a somewhat complicated question that he'd actually need to think for more than three seconds answer.

Damian's thoughts were interrupted by the same happy teacher's cheery voice: "this year we even have a new student in this class, please welcome (Y/n) (M/n) (L/n)!"

"Please, call me (N/n)," a female, American voice said quickly, as if she had prepared saying it.

Damian looked up from the book he was currently reading, actually interested for once, to look up at the new student.

Her (h/l), (h/c) hair shone, just like her silver necklace that hung around her (s/c) shoulders. Her jacket was tied around her waist, falling longer down than her black shorts. The (f/c) crop top she was wearing ended just above her bellybutton, showing of a (2/f/c), heart-shaped piercing. Her face was pleasing to look at and had a toothy smile plastered on it. What fascinated Damian the most was her beautiful (e/c) eyes. Never had he ever seen anything like it. Her (s/c) hand with white nail polish waved at the class.

Damian could see some of the guys waving back with dorky, lovey-dovey smiles on their faces. He rolled his eyes at the idiots, although he could see why they looked at her that way.

"Alright (N/n), you can sit down wherever you like," the teacher smiled and gestured to the three empty seats.

"(N/n)", as she liked to call herself, walked through the class room and right next to Damian. "Great," he thought, "as long as she doesn't talk..."

"Hi, I'm (N/n) (L/n)!" she said smiling, extending a hand for him to shake.

Damian sighed. "I know," he said turning to his book, waiting for the class to end.

***

(N/n) had tried to talk to Damian countless times during the first periods. Passing notes, whispering and every other thinkable way of communicating. Damian would try really hard to ignore the annoying girl, but no matter how many times he ignored her, she would never take the hint.

Finally, the bell called for lunch and Damian could get away from (N/n). Damian put his book in his backpack and hastily made his way to the school cafeteria, but he was too late.

"Hey! Silent-boy, wait up!" an all too familiar, annoying voice shouted from behind Damian.

Damian turned around to see (N/n) clumsily running after him with her backpack jumping up and down on her shoulders. Damian turned around, as if he was to walk away from the girl, but stood there with his back facing her.

She caught up with him shortly and stood with her hands leaning on her knees panting a little, before looking up at Damian's emerald eyes with her sparkling eyes. "I never got your name," she said.

Damian cocked an eyebrow. "That is because I never told you," he said plainly.

Her eyes widened and she looked like she was thinking about their conversation earlier, although Damian wouldn't call it a conversation, more like her trying to get his attention.

(N/n) got up and stretched out her back. "Right..." she said remembering, "well, how about you tell me now then?"

Damian sighed and started walking towards the cafeteria again. "Why should I?"

The girl jogged a bit to catch up with him again before answering: "because I asked. Duh," she said rolling her eyes playfully, daring Damian to take this further. So for once in his life, he did.

"And if I refuse?"

(N/n) pretended to think for a while before looking at Damian with a devilish grin. "Then I'll stand on the cafeteria-table and shout out: "what is this black-haired boy's name?" to everyone while pointing at you,"

Damian scoffed. "You would not dare to do that," he said while holding up the cafeteria door for her to pass through, which he received a small "thank you" from the girl.

After Damian had entered the cafeteria, (N/n) turned to him with that same devilish grin on her freckled face. "Watch me,"

Damian looked at her with little amusement on his face. The girl was new to this school; she wouldn't dare to do such a thing. Not even the students who had been here the longest did. So he didn't put his focus on (N/n), but rather on a free table.

The cafeteria was full of students chatting, laughing and eating. Some even had engaged in a food fight. The smell of cafeteria food, many sweat students and old meat snuck its way to Damian's nose making it wrinkle up in disgust.

Suddenly all of the students' heads turned the opposite way Damian was looking. He turned too, following their eyes, wondering what could possibly be so unusual that everyone noticed. When he saw it, his heart stopped.

There, on a table at the right side of the cafeteria, she stood looking at Damian while grinning. Just as she said she would. "Ladies and gentlemen!" she shouted, holding her arms out to her sides.

At that moment one word repeated itself in Damian's mind. No. She was actually going to do it! His hands started to get sweaty as he began to make his way over to the table she was standing on. "May I have your attention please!"

"No," Damian said while taking her hand, dragging her off the table. "No you may not,"

"So," the girl grinned. "Now you're going to tell me?"

Damian sighed, cursing himself for getting defeated by this girl. Although he must admit that he envied her bravery. "Damian Wayne," he said.

(N/n) smiled, satisfied with the answer. Then she looked down. "So Dami," she smirked. "Are you going to let go of my hand so I can eat?"

Damian looked down to see that he still held her hand. He hastily let go of her hand and mumbled a "sorry". Damian could feel his face heat up as he blushed.

"By the way, my name is Damian, not "Dami"," he said puffing his chest out, trying to brush over the handholding.

She giggled. "I know stupid, but I guess I'm just very fond of nicknames,"

He fought hard to not smile at her happy face and managed to hold the same non-amused expression. "Well, I am not,"

The (e/c) eyed girl pushed him playfully. "Oh shush, you know you love it," she smiled.

Then he couldn't fight in anymore, he smiled which was very rare. He knew she spoke the truth though; he did like the nickname. Maybe he would enjoy school and smile more often too now that he had met her.
