Natalie's POV:
The woman leaps on me and tackles me to the ground. I struggle to get her off of me as she snaps her teeth at me. I almost throw up when black liquid drips from her mouth and onto my face. My face actually starts to burn where she spit on me. I yell for help just as a man walks into the room. He stands there in shock staring at the woman on top of me.
Natalie: Umm could I get some help!?
Man: Yes, of course. I'll go get security.
He runs out of the room to go get the security guards. Why he didn't just help me get this psycho off of me, I'll never know. I am about to give up the struggle when security finally shows up and manage to get her off of me. I back against the wall as the woman continues to snarl at me. Then she turns on the guard. That's when Allie and Lily show up.
Allie: Nat, where the hell- Oh my God what is that?!
She points to the woman. I don't get a chance to tell her because as I start to speak, my voice is drowned out by one of the security guards screaming in pain. That woman- more like thing- bit him. He holds his neck in pain while the woman runs away, the piece of neck still in her mouth. The guard then starts to seizure and foam spills from his mouth. Out of nowhere, he stills. The other guard walks slowly over to his body and checks his pulse. His shoulders sag so I assume that the guard is dead. By that time Allie is crying and Lily is digging her nails into my arm from fear. I don't know what to do so I just stand still, trying to make sense of what is happening. I start hyperventilating and everything seems to slow down.
The guard turns around and opens his mouth to speak, I notice his badge says Emmett. Before the words "He's dead" can even slip out of his mouth, the other guard jumps up and latches onto Emmett's back. Emmett breaks free, but that doesn't stop the other guard from continuing to attack him. The other guard runs at him and Emmett pulls out his gun and shoots him in the head causing the guard to fall backwards. I see that he doesn't look the same as before. His eyes are glazed over and ringed in black. In fact, he looks like the woman that attacked me... Emmett walks closer to the body, aims his gun, and shoots the guard one more time in the head.
Unsurprisingly, that did not go unnoticed because soon after, two girls walk in followed by two guys.
Tiana's POV:
I hear the unmistakable sound of a gunshot come from one of the rooms near where Emma and I are. There are two other guys in the same room as us and they must have noticed the sound too because they look at us the same time we look at them. I don't really know them, but I have seen them around school one was blonde and the other had brown hair. I think his name was Jack or something like that. All of us had the same look of confusion on our faces. I open my mouth to speak.
Tiana: Was that a-
Blonde kid: A gunshot? Yeah. I think it came from that room, to the right. Should we go check it out?
Emma: Well yeah someone might be hurt.
Jack: Well what if it's some psycho that's gonna kill us?
Blonde kid: I agree with... with
Tiana: It's Emma and I'm Tiana by the way.
Blonde kid: I agree with Emma we should go check it out. Also I'm Brodie and that dumb ass is Jake.
Jake: Hey!
Jake. Well I was close. I say that we should go check it out too and after some convincing, we got Jake to agree. Following Brodie we all entered the room where we thought the gunshot came from. When we walk into the room it was like walking into a scene from an action movie. There was a girl crying in a corner hugging her knees to her chest, two girls against a wall, one just standing there looking like a lost puppy, the other shaking while gripping her friend's arm, and a security guard with his gun pointed at another security guard who was bleeding out of the back of his head. only it wasn't red like it should be, it was black like tar.
Tiana: What the fuck happened in here?
Security Guard: It's not what it looks like.
Brodie: What do you mean it's not what it looks like? There's a man lying dead in the middle of the room!
Security Guard: That was not a man that... that thing was not human. It attacked me and tried to bite me. It must have been that woman from earlier. She attacked that poor girl over there and then she turned on my partner and me. She bit a chunk out of his neck then ran off. He had a seizure and then died. Well the human part of him did he came back as that.
Emma: Well what is it?
Security Guard: Well there's been a rumor going around for a few days that an infection is spreading across America making people act like... zombies. All they do is attack.
Jake: So what you're saying is that your partner is a zombie?
Security Guard: I know it sounds crazy, but its true.
The girl that was standing by the wall unclasps her friend's hand from her arm and speaks up. First she tells us her name is Natalie.
Natalie: I believe Emmett. The woman that attacked looked like she was a decaying body. Her eyes were hollow her face was bruised she was deathly white and her mouth was black. She looked dead. She spit on me and it came out black and I think it has some type of chemical in it because as soon as it touched my skin it started to burn. I wiped it off but it left a burn mark.
Tiana: I believe you guys. This is not normal. But if this is spreading, then what happens to us? What are we going to do?
Emmett yells. The dead security guard on the floor wasn't dead at all. He pulled Emmett down to the ground and started... eating him. We stood in shock at first. I was the first to run.
Bet those doomsday prepers are feeling pretty damn smart right about now.
