It's Too Early

Tiana's POV:

I groan when I hear Emma say "Wake up." 8am is too damn early for me to be awake and active. That's why I'm always late for school. I ignore the sounds of my other two roommates, Angela and Melia, getting out of bed and try to go back to sleep. Of course, Emma wouldn't let that happen. She always has to be half an hour early for everything and makes sure that we are too. She calls my name again and I open my eyes long enough to throw a pillow at her, then I lay back down.

Emma: Tiana, get the hell up! We have to be ready by 9:30 for the tour.

Tiana: Fine, damn. I'm getting up.

We're on a 10th grade class trip to Washington and this is our first official day where we go on tours and shit like that. I'm glad to be here, but I am in no way a morning person. On many occasions my mom has had to physically drag me out of bed so that I could go to school. I scowl at Emma as I go to my suitcase to pick out what I was going to wear today. I hear her start clapping while saying "Come on guys hurry up!" Did this bitch really just fucking clap at me?

Tiana: Emma, it is way to early in the God damn morning for me to hear your clapping. We have and hour and a half to finish getting ready. I see you already are, so just sit your ass down and chill the fuck out.

Emma: Fine, but we better not be late.

I roll my eyes and continue to look for something to wear. Considering it's May and about 80 degrees outside, I just pull out a pair of shorts and my sleeveless shirt, making sure the straps are thick enough so that I don't get called on it by one of the teachers. By 9, we are all ready so we head downstairs to the lobby.

Alyssa's POV:

I was waiting with my roommates, Kaitlyn and Lexi, when another group came down. I didn't really know any of them, but I had heard rumors about Tiana. Apparently she always had an I don't give a fuck attitude and used to get in a lot of trouble before she transferred here in the beginning of the school year. I tried to be friends with her earlier this year, but she just ignored me so I gave up. I turn away from the group and start talking to Kaitlyn.

Alyssa: Hey do you know where we're touring today?

Kaitlyn: Um I think we're going to the Holocaust museum.

Alyssa: Shit.

Kaitlyn: What's wrong?

Alyssa: Nothing it's just that the Holocaust... gets to me. I'm not even sure I'll be able to make it through the tour.

Kaitlyn: Alyssa, it's okay. I will even walk through it with you if you want.

I give her small smile and she leaves to go grab an apple from the breakfast bar. I try to calm my nerves by sitting on the couch in the lobby and breathing slowly. Out of everything, the Holocaust museum is what I dreaded the most. Even thinking about the topic makes me want to cry. Pull yourself together Alyssa! I tell myself. I'm sure everything will be fine I mean it's just a walk through.

My thoughts are interrupted by a group of girls talking near me. By then most of the grade was waiting in the lobby for further instructions. I hear one of the girls say "Where are the teachers?" another replies with "They're over there, talking." she points in the direction where the teachers are gathered around talking. By the looks of their facial expressions it must be serious. A third girl, Izzy I think her name is, says that she's going over there to eavesdrop. I laugh, good luck with that.

Izzy's POV:

Me being the snoop I am, decided to go see what the teachers are talking about. They have been over there blabbing for half an hour and some of us are starting to get restless. I tell Hayden, Lizzie, and Carly that I'll be right back then walk over there. Before I do, Hayden runs up beside me.

Izzy: What do you want?

Hayden: You'll look less suspicious with someone with you. We could just act like we're over there to talk. Just because you're captain of our soccer team doesn't mean you have to do everything by yourself.

Izzy: Watch it. And that was good thinking. If only you could do that on the field.

Hayden: Shut the hell up and let's go.

Izzy: Someone's in a bitchy mood today.

Hayden glares at me and we walk over to where the teachers are and sit down at a table near them so that we can hear. Nothing really interesting happens until Hayden and I hear Mr. Ames say something about an infection spreading. "Infection?" Hayden and I whisper to each other. Mr. Ames opens his mouth and continues speaking

Mr. Ames: Well it's just something I saw on a website. It's not guaranteed, but according to the article, there have been many reports of hospital patients that show no responsive signs, but are able to walk and on many occasions, attack.

Mrs. Ewing: Is it safe to take the kids outside?

Mr. Ames: I'm sure it's just a rumor and that the kids will be fine.

I breath a sigh of relief. Nothing is wrong we are all safe. Unlike me, Hayden looks a little shaken up. She must think that it's true.

Izzy: Are you okay?

Hayden: What do you mean am I okay? There's a fucking infection going around turning people into... into... zombies! We could all catch it.

Izzy: Stop freaking out. It's probably just a rumor like Mr. Ames said.

Hayden: And what if it's not?
