I really didn’t understand what was going on, so I grabbed my coat and jogged down the street as quietly as I could, he knows me from somewhere, but I don’t. I wanted to find out what he meant. After a ten minute walk and not knowing where I am several times, he finally walked into a pub, who is this guy hanging with, bad influences or his parents are crazy to allow him to go into pubs. I didn’t know if I should start walking back or walk in after him, one side wanted to go home, the other wanted answers. I don’t have to be home right now, I need to know what he means.
I walked into a smoked out bar, with the sound of dim old music and what I thought was a game of pool. There was a mist of cigarette smoke, I couldn’t really see anyone. I walked to the bar and I could see “Hi sweetheart, what can I get ya” The man behind the bar asked, he was your typical barmen, mid-height, not very fat, but not slim, a gingery beard that looked like was only shaved once a month and your typical dark clothes. “Love, I got over people to serve”
“Um, nothing, Um did you just see a boy, quite young just come in?” I may have just got him in trouble for underage.
“Darling, look around, you can only see what I can see” I knew what he meant, the thick cloud of cigarette smoke was hanging low and it was nearly impossible to see anything. The barmen went off to the next costumer. I stood there for a minute and realised this is getting pathetic, so I got off the old dingy seat and walked to the door. As I exited there were a group of about 5 men smoking outside, they must of ranged from 27 to 45, I walked past them and heard from behind, wolf whistles. I was only in a small jacket and it was pretty tight, just to show my figure off, but I don’t think this is the right time to wear something like this. I heard something behind me, I don’t know what, it was like a scuffling of leaves, I looked behind me and there was nothing. I just ignored it and kept going. I heard it again and swung around, there was a man, I couldn’t see his face. I could only see a outline of blackness.
“Are you ok?” I called out, maybe he was hurt or needed help. When he didn’t answer, I walked forward, when he started walking towards me, I stopped. He was a good 20 feet away and I could still smell the alcohol on him, it hung off him. I heard more rustling of the leaves and 4 more guys started coming up behind him, they were also only dark shadows.
I didn’t know what to do, I was scared, maybe they were only going past me or am I being totally stupid and should turn around and start running and screaming like a smart girl. If I did that, I wouldn’t only totally embarrass myself, but would also annoy a lot of people. They carried on walking forward, only about 10 feet away, I stepped to the side to see if they were going to go around me. In the time it took me to walk to the side, they were a tiny 5 foot away and turned towards me, my heart first skipped a beat and the sunk. “Don’t you even think about coming near me” I could tell they could hear the fear in my voice, no matter how drunk.
A sixth figure came from the back, this is it, I’m done for, one v six.
“What’s going on?” The last figure said, I knew his voice, it was Ryan.
I still couldn’t talk, I was way to scared, I only thought about the other five.
“Vicky?” He walked right through the other five.
“What? your Victoria, Ryan?” The one in front asked him as if they were friends, maybe they were, maybe Ryan really was someone to worry about. “You’ve changed?” The man had totally changed his tone to me, as if talking to a old mate.
“Boys, go back, I’ll come and see you in a minute” Ryan told the other five men and grabbed two of there shoulders. The four at the back turned and started to walk away, but the one in front stood there smiling at me “Right then, its good to see you again Victoria” He winked and walked away. What are these guys problems, I don’t know them, I never have, they need to stop saying things like this.
