In the days that followed, Joker attempted to shower Harley in gifts in an attempt to make up for his behavior. But it was to no avail. Harley had grown tired of Joker's beatings and worse to her, the cheating. Sure, she felt pain at the memories of Joker's fist making contact with her skin but to Harley, the thing that brought her the most pain, the thing that completely broke her heart, was his unfaithfulness. Harley had devoted herself completely to him, given up everything for him; and for what? All she had ever wanted was his love. She didn't care about the money, the lavish jewelry, the fast cars. All that she wanted was Joker to love her. In his own twisted and skewed way, just to love her.

Joker had been extra busy today. He had a mission planned for tonight and he wanted Harley to be a part of it. He was going to take Batman's favorite pet. Robin. He planned to work with a local jewelry thief called, Ice. Ice was known for getting in and out of somewhere without leaving a trace; his skills were essential to Joker's plan.

He walked towards his room and found Harley lying on the floor, limbs outstretched, staring at the ceiling.

"We have big plans for tonight Harls." Joker said with an enthusiastic tone.

"Don't call me Harls.."

Harley's voice had a tone of sadness and slight anger.

Joker knew he had gone too far. His actions had pushed Harley over the edge and now, he might be losing her for good. No. He wouldn't lose her. Nothing mattered but her. They just needed to get back to their old ways. That's all.

"Start getting ready." He said before walking out of the room.

Harley remained on the floor and after a while walked towards her closet and got ready. About an hour later she walked downstairs and her and Joker went off on their mission. They arrived at an abandoned factory and met with Ice. There, Harley discovered that the mission was to ambush the Bat in his home and take Robin. At this, Harley's mood lifted and she felt a rush of excitement. When the plan was set, they drove down to the Wayne manor and sneaked in. As Harley was making her way through the mansion, she was oblivious to the cameras on the corners of the ceilings. Bruce watched as they neared Robin's room and set out to stop them. But he was too late, Joker had made his way to Robin before the others and had brutally murdered him.

Bruce's eyes widened in horror at the sight, "Nooo!"

He attacked Joker but Joker was stronger and faster. He and Harley made a run for it but as they attempted to flee, Harley felt a sharp pain in her abdomen. She stopped in her tracks and looked down to see a metal arrow protruding from her stomach and blood pooling out. Joker saw and growled in anger.

"Nooo!"

He carried Harley and rushed back to their mansion. As they entered, Frost and all the others attempted to stop the bleeding and save Harley. Joker stood nearby through it all, but it was no use.

"I'm sorry boss, there's nothing we can do.." Frost said.

Joker pulled out his gun and shot him through the head without a word. His men raced out of the room, afraid they'd be next. He stepped closer to Harley who laid on a table. He stared into Harley's eyes and felt water pool in his eyes. He tried to fight them back but he couldn't. Harley looked at Joker with tears streaming from her eyes. She knew she wouldn't make it. And after all the pain she'd suffered, a part of her was relieved it would all be ending soon. But the other part of her, the part that loved Joker, felt her heart break knowing that she would be without her Puddin.

She was so cold and her body was starting to go numb. Her vision was blurring and she knew she only had minutes left.

"I love you Joker."

Joker placed his hand on Harley's cheek and for the first time since he had been with Harley, said the words she had always dreamt of him saying.

"I love you too Harley.."

The words brought her comfort and after a few moments, she was gone.

Joker had gone off the edge. Nothing mattered anymore. There was no more meaning to anything. No jokes. No missions. Nothing. He took out a bottle of scotch from a kitchen cabinet and drowned it before pulling up a chair next to Harley's dead body. He sat there for a few minutes before pulling out his favorite gun and placed it on the table.

"What do you say Harls? Let's play a game..For old times sake.."

Joker grabbed the gun and placed it at his temple.
One..*click*  Two..*click*...... and on the Sixth...*pow!*

Jokers head slammed back and his body went limp. The gun fell from his hand and his face softened. Joker couldn't live without Harley and he had always known it. Hard as may have fought, he loved her. All the beatings and the pain were not to hurt her but to convince himself that he didn't care for her. But he did.

Too much.

Life in Gotham was.....quieter. Boring even. Without the Joker and Harley Quinn, things just weren't fun anymore. There were no more laughs. No more jokes.

Nothing...
