Hey everyone, I wanted to inform you that I fixed this story. I just find that this new version goes together a lot more smoothly.

(Keith's POV)
"The power on Zarkon's ship is returning!" Coran called, "We need to get out of here! I'm going to get Allura!" He exclaimed powering engines.
We clashed with Zarkon, knowing we'd have one last shot before we had to leave. We pushed our lions forward once more, "This is our last chance! Let's finish this!" Shiro declared, our sword at the ready as we charged forth, impaling Zarkon's robeast.
He growled and grabbed onto the head of the black lion, power surging through it. I could hear Shiro grunting in pain when suddenly he used his bayard to ignite our sword and I thrust it deeper into the robeast. We all screamed, tearing the blade up through the robeast, causing a surge of energy to leap forth from it, separating our lions.
"Did we do it?" I heard Lance over the radio.
"Is it over?" Came Hunk's voice shortly after.
"I have Allura and Kolivan. We need to go!" Coran urged.
We all started heading for the castle when I noticed Shiro's lion wasn't moving, "Shiro!"
"We need to tow him back onto the ship!" Pidge suggested so she and I moved our lions to help guide Shiro's lion back to the castle, "Princess, we're all on board." Pidge informed and Allura immediately wormholes us out of there.
My heart was racing, I quickly exited my lion, rushing towards the black lion, "Shiro!" I screamed, my lungs aching as we opened the hatch to the black lion, "Shiro?" I asked, making our way to the cockpit but there was no sign of him. My heart sunk as I stared down at the empty chair, "He's gone." I gasped softly.
'Shiro... where are you?' I wondered, tears welling up inside me, my fear growing.
Once things calmed down a bit and we scanned to see if Zarkon's ship had left we made our way back to the final battle.
I used Red to scan the rubble, looking for any sign of Shiro, there was nothing but debris. I sighed and thought back to the final battle, remembering the final strike against Zarkon. I could hear Shiro screaming in agony but there was nothing I could do. I had hoped he was just knocked unconscious in his lion. That everything was fine.
"There's nothing out here, Coran," I sighed, defeated, my heart throbbing.
"I'm sorry Keith." He sympathized, we were all torn up about it but I felt it most of all.
"I'm comin' home." I sighed, my heart shattering to pieces as I turned my lion around and headed back to the castle.
