If only (o2l fanfiction)

The Party's On!

So I go through the crowd, close to the corner where Connor is staring at his phone, and find Rebecca to talk to. Literally all Connor has done, was stay in that corner on his phone. He has friends, why isn't he hanging with them?

"Hey Raegan!" Rebecca says.

"Hey! so, how you liking the party?"

"It's great! everybody wants to get to know you better though!"

"I'll figure something out!" I say, and start stumbling to where Connor is. I bang into the wall next to him, tripping over my own feet and falling. Connor's eyes move to look at me, but he doesn't lift his head.

"You ok?" he mumbles.

"Yeah, hey your Connor right?" I ask pretending I don't remember him.

"Yeah, and your Raegan?" he still doesn't look up from his phone.

"So, why ain't you on the floor?" I ask.

"Hey, Raegan, can you come with me for a sec?" john asks standings above Connor and I.

"Yeah, sure. Why?" I stand up. "Excuse me." I say to Connor. John takes me outside in the big backyard. No one is back here, just us. Does he like me? is that why I'm back here? but I don't know who I like more, so let's be real, and think who I'd have a better chance with. John or Connor. It'd be John.

"Only 5 minute till midnight." John says. Oh. So, he does like me? we're close to the door, I can see everybody dancing from the corner of my eyes. I see Connor run past with his head in his hands.

"Yeah." I smile at John, "I'll be right back ok."

"Ok." John says looking down a bit. I run back inside to find Connor. He's running up the stairs, me not far behind.

"What's wrong?" i ask, Connor turns around.

"Nothing." He sAys.

"Look, I know we barely know each other, but you can tell me anything."

He doesn't say anything. I sigh and turn back to look for John. Uh-oh. 9 seconds till midnight! I need to hurry!

"5...4..." SHIT! I barely even get to the first step when my arm is grabbed and I'm spun around.

"3..2.." Everybody screams. Connor closes his eyes and "1!" everybody yells.

Connor leans in and kisses me. HE KISSED ME! He likes me?!

He pulls back and gives me a half smile.

"Eh-sorry." his eyes water as he runs into the bathroom. Holy shit. I turn around to see an angry/shocked John. Ugh! why do I always mess up like this.

John turns around and runs into the crowd. Shit shit shit! "JOHN!!" I yell, running after him. Luckily, at least I find Bella.

"Bella." I say as I grab her hand and pull her to the backyard. I start crying while hugging her.

"First, how many beers have you had?" I ask her.

"Don't worry, I only had one so I'll remember this. Now spill." She commands.

"Well, John brought me back here and I think he was gonna be my new years kiss, but then I saw Connor run bye and I told john I'd be right back. And then it was taking to long so John came looking for me and Connor kissed me at midnight and John saw and ran away." I answered very quickly.

"So, what I'm getting is Connor and John both like you and Connor kissed you instead of john kissing you, so John got mad?"

"Mhm."

"Come here." Bella held out her arms and pulled me in for a big hug.

"So, what are you going to do?"

"Well that's why I came to you."

"Oh. Well, I guess, go with your gut?"

"Hm?"

"Can we just talk about this in the morning?"

"Ok." I say and we both walk back inside. I go up stairs and to my room. But first, I purposely go up to the bathroom to see if Connor is still in there. Nothing. So I go into my room and close the door behind me.

The noise of the party doesn't bother me, I usually sleep with music playing anyway. Complete silence just kinda scares me. Well, anyway, off to bed.

What a great way to start the New Year.
