Charles Smith was panting heavily after hearing about the conflict which bestowed on him and his wife in the emergency room. There had been a strange interruption coming from his wife's body which affected the birthing process. Emma Smith had been suffering from a heart problem all her life; the lovely couple knew that giving birth to their daughter was going to be a problem, but they were willing to take that chance for their daughter's sake. The hours were passing by; Charles Smith was pacing back and forth in front of the emergency room. He couldn't take the wait; he knew that there was going to be something wrong with his wife because they had asked him to step out of the procedure room. Usually he thought that the father has to be there supporting the mother with the labor pains. All he was thinking about was the long hours of Lamaze classes that he and his wife took to get ready for the baby. He had been practicing for this day in the classes which he will not be able to perform outside of the emergency room.

Four hours had passed and to Charles it felt like centuries of waiting and anticipating for the current news to be delivered from Dr. Browne. Charles had wished Emma was okay, he doesn't want anything to happen to her and the baby. He hadn't been nervous ever since the night he was proposing to Emma. It was the year of 1972 and Richard Marx's one hit wonder "I Will be Right Here Waiting For You" was playing in the background. Rght then and there, he spitted out the words "will you marry me?" There was a great amount of excitement forming on Emma's face. She was so exuberant and gorgeous as can be. Charles could picture that day like it was just yesterday. She was wearing a red tight midway dress Charles had laid out for her in her bedroom that same day, her silky black hair was in curls, she had just done her make up so lightly that the shine in the moon was gleaming on her beautiful green eyes. He had also remembered how nervous he was then compared to how nervous he is now waiting for the news of his wife.

Ever since then he knew that Emma was the one for him ever since he laid eyes on her. She had always supported his dream of owning a big corporation one day. He knew that his young twenty year old mind was going to grow bigger and his men's wear clothing store he had recently built up in a little town called Louth, Lincolnshire will grow into this big corporation. Emma was positive as well, she knew that selling men's clothing would be a perfect idea. Now he is 25 years of age owning one of the biggest corporations of men's wear in the stock market. And now he is waiting impatiently for the doctor to come out and tell him about the current news about his wife and his unborn baby. He could hear his wife frantically screaming in pain while he paces back and forth in rage. He was in rage because all he can do is pace back and forth while his wife is in pain due to the labor. The time grew longer and he was impatient to the largest degree, he felt like rushing through those double steel doors and gripping his wife's hand as hard as possible. He could now hear footsteps coming toward him; he could hear the commotion of the nurses' hurriedly assisting his wife. The footstep is getting closer; Charles wonders who the person might be. Then out of the steel double doors, there stood the doctor. He was a middle aged man; he was about fifty two years old, with an average Santa belly, with short strands of gray hair following his slick short brown hairs. Charles could tell that the doctor missed a spot when bleaching his rapidly growing strands of gray hair by the gray blotches on his sideburns.

"Doctor, are my child and my wife going to be alright?" Charles said with tears rolling down his face, he couldn't fight the emotions inside of him even if he tried. He knew he was dealing with life or death.

"Afraid not Mr. Smith, your wife lost a lot of blood in places that blood should not come out of when giving birth, you see it is normal for a mother to lose a sufficient amount of blood when giving birth to her child, but what I have observed was more than sufficient amount, her blood level is uncanny." Dr. Browne gave a sigh and rubbed his eyes with a distraught look on his face, then he continued, "her contractions are moving farther apart, as I could see right now that the baby is going to come out healthy, but your wife..... well let's hope for the best now." Dr. Browne said; Charles knew that his wife wasn't going to be alright due to the sad face Dr. Browne gave him when delivering the news.
