Later that night Jasmine came home with a total shock. The first day of school was not how she planned it would be, she felt like she was about to have an anxiety attack. She had to pull herself together because she doesn't want her father to know that she had just met the son of his arch enemy. All she wanted to do was to have dinner and go to her room and sulk about this day to her lovely friend Bethany. She knew that she didn't have to have a diary because she knew she had Bethany.
As she walked into the house she could smell the lingering smell of Bethany's roast beef in the oven. When she was walking into the kitchen; she could see a bowl of mash potatoes, green beans, and French onion dip with carrot sticks and celery sticks for the guest this evening. She thought to herself, "is the king coming over with his son? Why is here so much food? Is this an eating contest?"
"Hello Jasmine, how are you? Are you hungry?"
"I am quite hungry after having a sniff of your delicious roast beef"
"Dinner will be done in a minute; please wait a moment; so how was the first day of school?"
"It was great; I actually had quite a lovely experience." Jasmine had said with a smile on her face. As Bethany looked at her face, she knew that Jasmine was not okay. She knew that they are going to have a long night ahead of them tonight and she knew she better prepare some tea and biscuits.
Bethany just nodded off and responded, "well that is great; your father is in his office if you would like to speak with him."
"Okay, alright, I will be going now." Jasmine walked out of the kitchen and into her father's office. As she saw her father, hurriedly finishing up his work before the dinner guest arrive, Jasmine wondered, "was Richard mean to me because he knows about the situation; did he do all that in lecture today because I am Charles Smith's daughter?"
Before Jasmine could even pay her greetings to her father; her father looked up with his glasses bent down to his nose. He looked like he had been working long hours and hadn't had an ounce of sleep. Jasmine always wondered if his health was doing okay after he got discharged from the hospital from his heart problem. Jasmine always felt empathy towards her father; he shouldn't be working this hard, especially due to his heart problem. Day after day has been a roller coaster with him and Jasmine.
"Hello darling, how was the first day of college?"
"It was good father"
"Good, I will be out shortly, I am just reviewing a couple of documents for the shipping, just meet me in the living room, okay?"
"Okay father, please do take your time, I am in no rush, and if the dinner guest arrive I will entertain them for you."
"Thanks sweetie, but I am going to be done her shortly." Then Jasmine closed the door gently from her father's office and walked to the living room. The living room was pretty big, with yellow fluorescent chandelier gleaming just below the ceiling and beautiful hand carved wooden chairs on both ends of the coffee table; people could say this is a rich and famous kind of lifestyle. As Jasmine was waiting she had wondered numerous times how she will be the following day when she has to see Richard again in her law theory class. She didn't want him to spoil her learning experience in an interesting class that she had picked for her major. She also didn't want him to ruin her college experience as well. She knew she had to ignore him; she doesn't want to drop her most important class of the semester just because he had made a mockery of her in front of the class, on the first day of school. As Jasmine was about to turn on the television, she heard a loud knock on the door and a sudden doorbell ring. She got up from where she was sitting and walked over to the door to see who that might be.
