"That is something I do not know," Watcher said.
I sat down. I didn't want to show that my knees were wobbling. "What do you mean 'you don't know'?" I said, my voice slightly trembling.
"There is one thing I know, however," said Watcher. "Caius Ballad did defeat her, but she was not killed in battle. After the battle, Lightning knew the goddess was dead, so she returned to Etro's throne and put herself into a deep sleep. You may not realize, but time passes slowly here, whereas time is fast in the real world. Have you noticed that you are in your corporeal body?" Watcher asked, intently staring at me.
"Really?" I said in disbelief. To be honest, I hadn't even thought about myself when I had gotten here. All I thought about was if Lightning was safe.
"Your sister, she did an incredible thing." Watcher stated. "She has fallen into that sleep to protect you."
"To protect me? It seems like she did that to protect herself." Sorry Lightning, that's how it seems.
"Yes, she is protecting you. You see, your soul is inside of her body, and she is holding it safe for you. She doesn't want to let go of you, Serah, so she has decided to hold you as close as humanly possible." Without warning, a figure took form in front of my eyes. "This is my bodily form. I do not use it much, but for your sake, I have decided to take it." Watcher stood before me. He stood about five inches taller than me, but he was very lean and skinny, as if this body had been starved for a long time.
"Okay. So Lightning is protecting me from the Chaos that was released when Noel and I killed Caius. If she hadn't done what she did, my soul could be floating in the Chaos right now." I looked up at Watcher. He had light gray eyes and hair the color of midnight. If I looked at him closely, he bore a striking resemblance to my father...
"That's correct. Your soul would be adrift in Chaos, mindlessly floating around as if your life never had a purpose. But there is a prophecy foretold that I think you might want to listen in on." Two chairs appeared out of thin air, signaling that this was going to take a while. "Are you ready to know the truth about your sister's future?" Watcher asked, looking at me with pure curiosity.
"Yes, I'm sure. Tell me all you know."
