Day 1 - The Day I Met Amber

I am a seventeen year old male student named August. I have the most regular life you could have. Nothing too exciting. But then one day all that changed...

I was walking home from school like everyday, then suddenly this girl with beautiful silver hair caught my eye. It looked like she was watching me from behind a building, although I was pretty far away and couldn't really tell.

A few minutes later a tall woman stopped me. "Can you come with me for a moment?" she asked. "Um, I think you have the wrong guy." I replied. "No you're the right guy, now please come with me" she grabbed my arm and pulled me with her."Hey, what do you think your doing?!" I yelled. "SHH be quiet!" she said.

"Sorry about that, my name is Bella Winters"

"Are you sure you have the right guy?" I said.

"Yes I'm sure, and I need to talk to you about something."

"Ok what is it?"

"That girl with the silver hair was watching you." Bella said.

"I knew it."

"Yeah, her name is Amber, and I'm her doctor."

"Doctor? Is there something wrong with her?" I asked.

"Yes there is, I don't know what it is but it's unlike anything I've ever seen. She has a disease of some kind and it's getting worse, fast."

"How fast?!" I said.

"She has about seven days left.." Bella said with tears in her eyes. "I met her a month ago, she came to the hospital and told me she felt really sick. She said she doesn't know who her parents are and she doesn't answer any other questions I ask her. She said she needed a home so I took her in, and I've been like her temporary mother ever since"

"Wow that's terrible... So why do you need me?" I asked

"You're all she talks about. She has fallen in love with you, August."

"Wow, she loves me? I've never even met her."

"I dont why she likes you so much, but for sure she loves you like crazy." Bella handed me a large stack of money and said "So what I want you to do is make these last seven days of her life amazing."

I was shocked "You're giving me all this money?"

"Yes, I want you to do whatever you can to make her happy." Bella replied.

"Ok, like what?"

"Just be with her. Go on dates, and maybe even get married."

"Married?! How old is she anyway?" I asked.

"Well she would be seventeen in a few weeks."

"I'm not old enough to get married."

"Who cares, it would mean the world to her."

"Yeah I'm sorry but I'm not getting married at seventeen."

"Fine whatever, but will you please just be with her?"

"Yeah I'll do it......For her."

I went to the building Amber was hiding behind hoping I would find her, but I didn't see her anywhere. I was walking to my house when suddenly I saw her watching me from behind a different building. When I looked at her she quickly left. I casually speedwalked towards the building.

"I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I know it's rude to stare at people!" Amber said.

"You're hair is beautiful." I said interrupting her.

"What?" She asked.

"I said your hair is beautiful."

"Oh, t-thanks" she said while blushing

"I'm August by the way" I said.

"I know"

"What?"

"I-I mean, I'm Amber." She said embarrassed.

"Hey I know we just met but I was wondering if you want to maybe go on a date with me tomorrow?" I asked.

"Y-Yes I would love to!!" She said excitedly.

"Great! Let's meet at the café tomorrow morning."

"Sounds good!"

"It's a date then."
