It always used to be me and my sister Lucy... that would soon change. I woke up with a feeling that today was going to be different than any other days. Well guess what, I was right.
I was so surprised! I've dreamt of this moment all my life, it seemed so realistic and I knew that success was going to come my way one day or another.
It was an average summers day. Birds are singing. Flowers are blooming . Children are playing. I was getting ready for school when I got a call from my sister Lucy. She was explaining to me about how fun college is. I was so surprised, in fact I didn't believe all the things she was telling me. I thought she was over exaggerating for a moment. Although it seemed like all the things she was telling me sounded made up, they weren't...I was ready to face the biggest change of my life; but I didn't know how. I haven't told anybody about my deepest secret. It's only my sister that knows about this, I haven't even told my own mum about it.
As I was walking to school that day, I was thinking about it, I was thinking about whether I should tell my BEST friend - who I trust more than anything. Then I said to myself, that I'd tell her that I have a secret, but I won't tell her what the secret is.
I finally arrived at school. As I stepped into the building, I had a feeling that something terrible
was gonna happen between me and my BEST friend Gracie. I just didn't know what...
I see Gracie out of the corner of my eye and I see her walking towards me.
"Hi Jenna, how are you today?" She asked.
"...oh I'm fine, what about you?" I say. Being around Gracie suddenly makes me feel uneasy and surprisingly suspicious of her every move.
"I'm alright, thanks for asking." She says with a slight nod and a smile creeping up her face. We both go our separate ways and I make my way to Maths. Whilst doing my work, a girl my age asked me what the answer to a question was. I gave her the answer and then we carried on with our work. During lunch, I saw her again so I asked for her name.
"Madison but my friends call me Maddie." She explains.Without hesitation, I ask if she would like to be my friend.
"Yeah, of course we are", she said.
"Well, what about we hang out this lunch time." I said.
Madison said " Yeah sure, after all we are friends".
I said to myself, I really want to tell Madison about that secret, but what if Gracie finds out, I think she already knows that I told my sister, because a few days ago she said to me,"Are you hiding something from me." She inquired.
However, I was so curious, I didn't know how she found out, because she just said that out of random, I think my sister told her. You know what - I'm gonna ask Lucy if she did - once I get home...
I want to tell Maddie that I'm gonna tell her something at lunch, at least she'll know why I wanted to hang out with her in private because she did seem kind of suspicious when I asked her if only 'us two' should hang out for the whole of lunch. I delicately tapped her shoulder and said,
"The only reason I wanted us two to hang out in private is because... I just wanted to tell you my deepest secret; that I've only told my sister and no one else". I hesitate
"Oh okay then, but are you sure you want to tell me about it? She asked.
"Yes I do, after all we are friends now, aren't we ?" I say without a doubt.
So I tell her my whole story. My grief. My terror. My betrayal...
It takes her a few moments to react but I can immediately sense her sympathy.
"Look it's okay, I didn't really know her anyway." I tap her lightly on the shoulder as I speak in a soothing and comforting tone when I notice her eyes were watering so I hug her even tighter knowing she needed the support.
"Hey, don't cry, it doesn't matter we were practically strangers," I say calmly," but she was always there when I needed her."
"I...I just can't believe your mother committed suicide, w...what was her name again?" She asks whilst rubbing her snotty nose on a cafeteria tissue.
"Her name was Samantha... Samantha Smith."
"She was beautiful. Eyes, as blue as sapphires. Hair, as gold as the shining sun. Lips, as red as roses." I announce, describing her in as much detail as I can just to do her justice.
"She sounds lovely, just like a fairytale princess." She says, patting my back soothingly.
"It's okay, I never really knew
her anyway." I say as I choke back some tears... but it becomes too much to bear. Tears stream down my face."Well that was the end of this chapter, stay tuned to find out why Jenna's mum committed suicide. However her name won't be revealed until the last few chapters of this whole story. I hope you enjoyed this chapter, and I'd love to hear your opinions in the comments".
