"I still beleive you're an idiot." Ani said as we sat in the quad, the hangout area of the schools grounds. She shook her head. "Why do I even associate myself with you? The world may never know." I shrugged before pushing her head to the side.

"You hang out with me because if it weren't for me. Kaia, and les Perra's wouldn't ever leave you alone." I spoke.

Kaia and the Bitches, yup the group of girls that swear from heaven to hell that they run the school. They were nothing. Nothing but a piece of dirt on the bttom of the universe's boots. "Come on Chika, it's time for class." I huffed as I nudged her with my elbow and stood. I stomped on the back of my board the front of, flipping upward till it reached my hands.

"What did I tell you about calling me Chika?" She seethed. I smirked.  "Fuck you."  She kicked her baord foward before jumping on and riding ahead of me. I rolled my eyes before running and letting my board go, allowing it to find it's way under my feet.

"Gonna give the silent treatment again?" I asked as we road through the quad and towards the step. I smirked. "I guess I'll jsut have to take that One Direction sweater back." I shrugged before walking ahead of her my eyes giving her that natural sparkle when ever I was teasing her.

"Why must you tempt me so?" she asked and I shrugged before handing a folded piece of paper to her.

"What class do you have first?" I asked her as we walked towards our lockers mine sat atleast one down from where hers stood.

She read over the sheet of paper and grumbled ebfore swearing softly. "I have American Literature." She glared at the folded up piece of paper. Laughing I quickly unfolded mine and scanned it.

"AP Chemistry." My head moving side to side as I shook it. "You get it easy." I mumbled ebfore turning on my heel. She walked towards me as she headed toward her first period, gave me a quick peck on the cheek and a soft hug before disappearing into the crowd.

I earned a few glares from a couple of guys who sat across from where we had previously stood, infront of my locker. I searched around in my pockets for my ear buds and my phone ebfore plugging them into the jack and blasted the music in my ears.

I walked the hall listening to "Invincible by Machine gun Kelly." I made my way quickly up the stairs when I ran into another friend. Louis, was his name. Just like me he was another Blatino kid. Half Jamaican, half Dominican. Blatino's usually reffered to kids of both black and hispanic descent so I guess it kind of made sense.

"Watch It!"  He said. I chuckled a bit before peering down my nose. "Aye ,Travis, man, you almost made me spill my Horchata." He spoke as we did our handshake. He offered me some and I turned it down.

Louis was like a minier version of my self. The same slick black hair with the brown strands randomly through it, and the similiar almond shaped eyes. His face was more angled more distinct and older looking, where as mine was heart shaped with a young esque gracing it's structure.

"So what's up ese?" He asked and I shrugged. Ese another term we used for dude or man.

"Nothing much. I'm living if that counts for anything." My eyes shifted to the clock, "Walk and talk I can't be late on the first day." I walked beside hima s he explained how well his summer went. "You got a job?" I asked him as we stopped outside of the classrooms.

"Yeah man. I work over on E street at the Raimundo's " He stated before looking into his class room whish, suprisingly was directly across from my mine.

"I might stop by there later and grab a few things." My devious grin forming on my face as the bell rang.

"I'll catch you later, ese." We did our handshake one alst time before I turned o walk into class.

"You're late." The teacher's voice said. This voice was familliar and it made me smirk even more.

"No, you're just early." I mused as I walked toward my desk in the back of the class, my arms folding across my chest as I looked around the class room. Different face apepared than the ones that I had seen for the last two years. Oh and by the way, I'm only a junior in high school.

I looked around the room again and shook my head. Let me give you the break down, school was like the city, and the city just like a prison. You had the white, preppy kids sitting closer to the front. they were known as Little Europe. Then you you had the asians, your chinese, japanese, korean, and thailanese. We called them little Asia. They sat either directly in the front or right behind the white kids. Next, you had your african americans or blacks as everyone else reffered to them I preffered the more politically correct word African americans. These were the kids everyone looked down because they assumed they weren't that smart, or not able to comprehend the work, but we all knew that was a guise to make the teachers feel stupid. Fianlly came the kids like me. The ones who were born and raised in a Latino house hold, the Guetemalans, Salvadorians, Mexicans, Dominicans, and the Panamanians. We were know as little Central America.

Mckinely tech use to be your average school in inner city Manhattan. This is where are the brightest students in the state would usually go and from ehre they'd head off to college. Well that all changed my the year my brother started high school, seven years ago. They made it mandatory for all students to be accepted and so they did.

I sighed as my teacher began going over the criteria for the year. I laid my head down and closed my eyes. I was gonna be a long year.
