Five year old Hikari Takashima sat quietly in her kindergarten class coloring. Hikari knew her mother was late, but her mother was at a job interview for something she loved.

“Hikari would you like a juice box?” Mrs. Takashi asked

“Yes please if it is not too much trouble.”Hikari replied

About that time a woman ran into the room.

“Hikari, I’m so sorry I’m late. “The woman said

Hikari got up and walked over to the woman.

“It’s okay mama.”Hikari said

Takashima Rei smiled at her five year old daughter.

“Hikari your hair is so pretty who did it?”Rei asked as the two left

“Nanami, she said that if I wanted to play baseball I had to keep it out of my face.”Hikari replied playing with one of her ponytails.

“That’s right. You wouldn’t want your hair to get in the way if you were batting.”Rei replied

“Mama can we watch the Red Sox game tonight?”Hikari asked

“Of course.”Rei replied

“Hikari! Hikari! HIKARI!”a voice called

Fifteen year old Hikari Takashima sat up quickly in her desk. Her brown hair flew off her shoulder and onto her back. Hikari looked at the person who had been calling her. It was a girl with mossy green eyes and brown hair.

“Ah, Nanami sorry I fell asleep.”Hikari replied

Nanami sighed and fixed her grey skirt. Hikari collected her bag and the two started their walk home.

“So are you going to Seido for High school?”Nanami asked

Hikari looked at her friend and sighed.

“Yeah, unfortunately.”Hikari replied

“Why unfortunately? Seido is a baseball High School. You love baseball!”Nanami cried

“I loved baseball, pass tense. Baseball is nothing but a waste of time.”Hikari replied

Nanami had been Hikari’s friend since she was five, and she could not think of a time that Hikari had never loved baseball.

“I can’t believe you just said that!”Nanami cried

Hikari looked at her friend.

“It’s not that I hate baseball…I can’t force myself to. I love going to Seido. After all I’ve been going there since I was five. Everyone there is really special to me…I just hate that Seido has become like it has.”Hikari replied

“You mean the hierarchy system?”Nanami asked

“Yeah. I mean I understand winning is important, but when does winning outclass sportsmanship?”Hikari asked

Nanami looked at her friend.

“Well I guess Seido will have to watch out for us!”Nanami cried

Hikari looked shocked and her best friend smirked

“I got a volleyball scholarship to Seido. Mom is letting me stay in the dorms with a certain girl by the name of Hikari Takashima.”Nanami replied

“You’re joking!”Hikari cried

“You wish I was!”Nanami replied

The two girls laughed soon it was time for them to part ways.
