One
I haven't been in a church in a long time. When I say long, I mean centuries. How I found myself in one was because on of my beautiful family was murdered. His funeral service was held on a Friday, on a hot afternoon. I cloaked my presence when I entered through the church doors making sure not to touch anyone. I stayed in the back, watching the comings and goings of everyone there. Listening to their conversations and trying to pick up any useful information that I could use to discover the murderer who killed my retainer.
The Saint Guild took up six rows of the pew on one side. While the other side, lycanthropes of different species took up ten rows with more standing to the side of the filled up pews. Humans filled in the rest of the pews that were opened, sitting behind The Saint Guild and in between the lycanthropes.
When I entered the church, all of the Were's turned to look at the church entrance. They couldn't see me, but they could smell me and they smelled the living dead. They smelled power and blood.
The service ended after two hours and everyone but a handful stayed behind.
"Thank you for staying." The man in a fitted dark charcoal suit said as he stood up. "Marcus wanted his will to be read here instead of my office. The reasons will be understood soon."
When the two sides did not move or make a comment he continued. He opened his suitcase and took out a sealed vanilla envelope and opened it. He looked at everyone before reading the contents written on the paper.
"I hate it when lawyer's read wills and it always starts with 'if you're reading this, it must mean I'm dead'. I guess, I'm really dead. I'll try to get this over with as soon as possible.
To The Saint Guild, you get nothing, I gave you all I had and more, I can't believe you expected more, you greedy bastard!
To His Majesty, His Highness, King Ian McKinlin, King of all Beast. To you I give all my monetary assets. At this current time, it adds up to $150,000. All of which will go towards The Alliance.
To Josh Green, you get Lucy.
To Gabe Mood, you get Bella.
To Luciela,"
The lawyer stopped reading and said. "You have to show yourself to everyone so I can continue." Everyone started looking around the church for the woman called Luciela.
"Luciela? Is there a Luciela here?"
As they looked, I waited and contemplated if I should do what he asked. Thinking about it would not help my situation any more than it would. I uncloaked myself and stepped forward from behind the pillar. The moment they saw me, everyone tensed and prepared themselves for a fight.
"Present!" I said cheerfully as I walked down the aisle.
"Nightwalker!" Said one of The Saint Guild soldier.
"Vermin." Whispered a Were.
"Blood sucker." Shouted another Saint Guild soldier.
"Luciela?" The lawyer asked.
"That's me." I said as I sat down next to a Were with dark brown hair and brown eyes. When our gazes met, he quickly got up and moved away to join his brethren.
"Aww...." I said mockingly. "I won't bite you..yet."
The Were's growled at me, while the Saints took out their weapons.
"Everyone calm down, just calm down!" The lawyer shouted. "Saint's put your weapons away, for pete's sake! We're in a church! Are you really going to spill blood in a church. Were's don't do anything stupid! And Luciela, Marcus continues to tell you to behave yourself and act your age!"
