"You're special."

Y/n was a.. special girl, needed things no one else needed.

Other teens thought she was just straight up weird.

Not talking.

That's what she was known for. No one in the high school had ever heard her speak one single word.

But, the new kid, didn't know that.

No one really tried to get her to talk, find out her interests, help out with class work, until Ethan Nestor showed.

She sat at a bench, one about one whole block away from the school building, her daily routine on weekdays.

She sat at the bench, writing something down on a piece of paper, changing between her notebook and a piece of paper she was drawing on.

Her red hair blew in the wind, her yellow tips brushing against her face, sometimes making her make a mistake on her paper.

She felt something around her. She looked up, seeing a man, a boy to be exact, her age, bright blue hair, faded, but could obviously tell it used to be bright.

The boy awkwardly waved, tensing his shoulders, and sitting down, closing his legs air-tight.

"So, um, do you know where to go for breakfast?" The boy said, in a whisper.

Y/n just glanced up, quickly realizing she was staring. Y/n grabbed a piece of paper from her binder, and takes the pencil she let down.

She wrote on the paper, slowly handing the paper to the blue boy.

In the cafeteria.

The boy slowly looked up and looked down, and grabbed a pencil from his black jeans.

Oh, sorry.

His handwriting was.. unique it was sloppy, yet clear to read.

Y/n put her hand, cupped around her mouth.

It's fine.

Y/n drew a small cartoon version of herself with a cringing face next to the writing.

Do you always come over and sit here?

Ethan gave the paper to Y/n.

~

Ethan and Y/n have gotten to know each other over the past two years of high school.

They have learned to love the usage of paper, and technology, Y/n finally told Ethan about her speech problem.

Ethan understood. But seemed to make him love her more.

When you love someone so much to the point where you go extended lengths to communicate, it shows that you have feelings for them.

Friendly or not.

You can guess which Ethan has for her.

~

Y/n didn't come to the bench the next week.

Ethan waited, although ha other friends urged him to come to the school building along with them.

He waited.

But then he saw her in the hallway.

During class change, he encountered her.

"What's wrong?" Ethan asked.

She looked down.

Ethan could tell something was up. He grabbed her tip of her chin and urged her to look at him.

Y/n wanted to speak. Wanted to say what she wanted to say.

Her mouth opened, and Ethan waited.

The only thing that came out, was a squeak. But to Ethan, it was like he came into communication with an angel.

"You are special." Ethan said, grabbing Y/n's hand.

She closed her eyes.

"You- are- are too."

Ethan smiled.
