We all have thoughts popping up in our heads 24 hours a day. It's normal and private.
I have them every day too. They're mostly about what's going on in my life or ideas I get for my stories or other things I might still have to do or remember.
I like writing down these thoughts, it helps me keeping track of where my life is going.
I also like writing everything down because I am very forgetful. And writing makes me feel like I can be remembered. Even if only one person reads one of my stories. It makes me happy.
That's why I'm a freelance writer. Yes, I'm saying 'freelance' because I'm too afraid to publish any of my short stories or long stories. I've never written a novel or a book. But I intent to do so someday.
I'll give you a short resume to fill you in on my life.
I'm 22 years old
I live with my best friend in London
I have a Samoyed dog named Niklauss
I work at a cute old little bookstore in the center of town
I'm a freelance writer as I said earlier
I don't talk much, but I usually express my feelings in written words
And that's all you need to know about me.
This morning was a pretty routine morning. I woke up, had breakfast, went to the bookstore to work with the underground and here I am now. Writing in my journal because there are no customers since it's raining waterfalls.
I'm the only employer of this bookstore. I work together with Mrs. Flower, she's the owner of this store. She has been for the last 50 years. It still amazes me how such a short delicate old lady could keep this shop on her name for so long. She should've retired a long time ago but she's still working. Mrs. Flower started this store together with Mr. flower. Sadly Mr. flower isn't here anymore. He passed away a few years ago.
I started working at this store three years ago, when I just moved to London. I'm originally from Cambridge. But I thought London would be more fun to live and me and my best friend Damian have been talking about living together in London for a short while. So we did it.
*ting-ting* "H-Hello?" a soft voice came from the front door of the store.
A young man around twenty years walked into the shop dripping from the cold rain holding a briefcase over his head. His long brown raincoat was soaked.
"hi welcome!" I greeted enthusiastic.
"um hi, is it okay if I stay here until the rain stops? At least until I can walk the streets without having to swim"
"haha of course it's fine. This morning it wasn't raining so hard. I didn't think the weather would get this bad already"
"hm, I'm Adam by the way"
"I'm Mila, nice to meet you!"
"Nice to meet you to, so do you own this shop? I don't see anyone else here"
"No this shop is owned by Mrs. flower but she has a day off"
"Oh I know her, she and my grandfather used to be good friends, he used to tell me stories about the fun and crazy things they did together when they were young"
"How nice, do they meet up once in a while now?"
"Um no, my grandfather died a year ago"
"I'm sorry for your loss"
"haha it's fine, we all have to go someday. And besides he told me that he had not a single regret in his life so I'm guessing he's happy now"
This young man seemed nice, also a bit shy. I like his way of thinking. Better than all the airheads walking around town these days.
"The rain is starting to clear. It was fun meeting you. I hope that somewhere in the future we'll meet again. And thanks for letting me take shelter here haha. Bye Mila"
"Bye Adam, have a nice day and be careful, it may be slippery on the streets"
"I will, bye"
He waved a friendly goodbye and left. Too bad, he was a nice man, maybe a bit too nice for this society. And cute too.
