Request by: no one, I just kinda felt like it- "Prompt 76, Clintasha songfic"
Prompt 76: "I can't... I can't lose you." This is going to be a songfic based on the song "Safe & Sound" by Taylor Swift
Warning(s): character death, crappy writing, again probs very OOC
Sorry for the short chapter, but I thought short made this more sad.

I remember tears streaming down your face when I said I'll never let you go
Natasha looked at Clint, standing in the rain, looking helpless. He was staring straight ahead of him, eyes blank and unseeing. She thought he might have been crying; she couldn't tell if it was the rain or tears making tracks on his cheeks. He looked so similar to that day not too long ago. The day that she would never forget, the day that would be burned into her memory like a brand. Forever is a long time to remember, she thought sullenly.
When all those shadows almost killed your light
She remembered everything- the black shapes moving in the shadows that slowly materialized into bodies, moving furiously toward them. She remembered the gun shots. She remembered frantically calling Clint's name, and hearing him call for her in return. She remembered him, in an uncharacteristic manner, telling her that everything would be ok. She remembered knowing that wasn't true.
I remember you said don't leave me here alone
She remembered him breaking out of his cell hours later, exhausted from the effort but running on adrenaline. She remembered him smashing the door of her own cell in, to find her bloodied and bruised on the floor, barely hanging on to her own consciousness.
But all that's dead and gone and passed tonight
She remembered the tears in his eyes as he frantically tried to reassure her that she was going to live, that everything was going to be fine if she could just make it outside. She remembered the blurry streaks of color that made up her world at the time, the dizzying array of light and color and sound that she couldn't see through. She remembered staggering her way down the hallways, firing her gun haphazardly and barely hitting any of her targets.
Just close your eyes, the sun is going down, you'll be alright no one can hurt you now, come morning light you and I'll be safe and sound
She remembered the sound of a helicopter as they walked out of the building, the feeling of grass against the bare skin revealed by the tears in her suit. She remembered the darkness threatening to consume her vision, encroaching on the edges. And she remembered thinking, This is what dying feels like. A strange sea of calm. It's like something out of a movie, all I can hear is my own heartbeat. She remembered letting the darkness take over her vision, and taking one last wheezing breath.
And now, here she was, watching the man she had promised she would never love confess his own feelings to her gravestone. She moved down to look at him. Extending a hand, she tried to touch his cheek, only to have her celestial form pass right through him. She jerked her hand back like she had been burned, the only thought in her mind being, He'll never know that I felt the same way. Natasha knew, deep in her heart, that she would remember dying forever.

You all probably hate me. I also realized I forgot to use the prompt.
Whoops.
Ok, prompt is implied on this one.
Anyway, hopefully I'll have another chapter up soon!
