Request by: no one, I got inspired to write this and thought why not "No prompt, soulmate AU"
So the way this AU works is that the people can only see color when they are touching their soulmate. Once they cease contact with each other, their world goes back to black and white until they touch each other again.
Warning(s): sadness, Hamilton is actually nice for once, more sadness, I haven't actually seen the musical so don't hold me to any of the stage directions and whatnot
This is in Hamiltime, so everything is taking place during the revolution.

1780, a winter's ball. I made my way over to the group of drunks I call my friends, only to hear them rambling about the Schuyler sisters. Aaron Burr, who I would not consider a friend but more of an acquaintance, looked over to me. He appeared to be the only one that hadn't gotten drunk- yet.
"If you can marry a sister, you're rich son." I smirked back at him, a challenge in my eyes.
"Is it a question of if, Burr, or which one?" Let the games begin.

Looking around the ballroom, I noticed one of the sisters, who was dressed in a gray gown, talking and laughing with the surrounding group of men. I noticed another, clothed in a slightly different gray, had made her way over to Laurens and was talking him up. Get some, my friend. The last one, cloaked in yet another shade of the same color, was leaning against the wall and staring at me intently. Pretending not to notice, I mixed with the crowd, hearing bits of names and seeing flashes of faces and knowing I wouldn't retain a thing. Quite suddenly, I became the object of attention as the first sister, who appeared to be the talk of the party, approached me. Her long, curly hair floating gracefully behind her.
"Hi." I say simply, and she looks as if that one word has become her whole world, like all of the breath was knocked out of her in one fell swoop. "You strike me as a woman who has never been satisfied." She looked up at me through her eyelashes, which were really long and really brought out the color of her eyes. Even though her eyes were literally exactly the same color as everyone else's. It struck me then that she was gorgeous. More than gorgeous, she shined like a thousand suns. If you looked too long, you would be blinded by her brilliance.
"I'm sure I don't know what you mean, you forget yourself." Her voice. Oh my god, she either didn't know what she was doing to me or she was incredibly good at hiding it.
"You're like me, I'm never satisfied." That statement was no lie. I knew in this moment that I would never be truly satisfied unless I was with her.
"Is that right?" Oh, you have no idea, gorgeous.
"I have never been satisfied."
"My name is Angelica Schuyler." Angelica. A perfect name for a perfect woman. Ok Alex, don't mess this up. She is way out of your league and you know it.
"Alexander Hamilton." Not what I was going for, but close enough, I guess. At least I didn't make a fool of myself. All I had to do was keep answering questions, answer a few, and get permission to write to her. Then I could stun her with my words, and let it build from there. That was the plan, at least.
"Where's your family from?" A casual question, but it still hurt. For once, I wasn't sure what to say. What was I supposed to tell her? 'Oh yeah, about that, my father left me, my mom died when I was twelve, and I have no siblings! Such joy is my life!' Scrambling to find something to say, I went with the first thing that came to mind.
"Unimportant. There's a million things I haven't done, but just you wait. Just you wait." And then it hit me. What if she's my soulmate. Could she finally be the one? Angelica Hamilton. I like it. After a moment, she glanced over at the woman leaning against the wall, whom I knew to be her sister. She grabbed my arm, and the world exploded. Things that I assumed to be colors appeared everywhere. I didn't have a name or a description to put to any of them, except that they were incredible. But the way they made Angelica look was the most incredible of all. She was even more stunning now than she had been a moment ago. Quietly praying to whatever God had abandoned me so many years ago, I hoped that she would say something. It was customary for the woman to speak up first and tell the man that she was his soulmate. All to soon, though, we had arrived by her sister and she let go of my arm, plunging the world back into inky grayscale once again.
"Elizabeth Schuyler. It's a pleasure to meet you," she says. Elizabeth is a pretty name, although not as pretty as Angelica. I resist the urge to sigh and bend over her hand, pressing my lips to her knuckles.
"Schuyler?"
"My sister," Angelica replies with a loving tone, and by Elizabeth's gasp, I can already sense what has happened.
"Can you see it to?" Elizabeth asks me, and in a quick movement, I look over at Angelica. Her face, which was so obviously emotionally controlled when we were flirting a few moments ago, is now easy to read. The flash of disappointment that crosses her features, followed by a look of resignation. She loves her sister too much to say something that will prevent her from being with her soulmate. And if Angelica is happy, than I suppose I can be as well. "Thank you for all your service." I take one more look at Angelica, then make my choice.
"If it takes fighting a war for us to meet, it will have been worth it."

I feel like now is a good time to say that I'm sorry that these are always so short, but I feel that the length I choose suits the emotions that I want to convey. I usually write these in one sitting, so if anyone wants me to try to write some longer ones, or make a second part to any of the ones that I write, feel free to let me know.
Well, this was supposed to have more Hamilton/Eliza in it when I started, but the Hamilton/Angelica part kind of wrote itself and I just let it go. So, enjoy some good Hamgelica.
Additionally, we authors love to read your comments. It helps us tell how our story/stories are and how we can improve. I would love to hear some of your thoughts about what I write!
Thanks for reading!
