Hermione woke up and rubbed her unopened eyes. She yawned groggily and stretched her arms. Then she remembered what happened. She still couldn't believe that they were over. Maybe, it was for the better. Maybe, they were just not meant to be. Maybe, they would be happier if they were separated. But that was unlikely. There was a deep hole in her heart and a huge boulder sat on her shoulders.

She sighed as she saw opened boxes of chocolate and packages of chips on her bed. She stood up and started to clean her mess. It would just be a complete waste of time if she just sat there eating and crying, even though that was what she wanted to do. Anyways, she had classes to attend to and the first was Potions. Hermione thought of Professor Snape. If only they knew beforehand, they could've understood everything.

Their new professor was a petite, woman named, Maple La Croix. She appeared to be one of those neat and organized people, judging from the way she dressed and walked. She also seemed like a nice professor, based on her welcoming speech. Hermione really hopes that her class will help her distract herself from the break up.

Hermione quickly took a hot shower and changed into her school robes. The whole time, she hoped and hoped that she wouldn't have to see Ron. She knew she couldn't face him right now and she might burst into tears if she tried talking to him.

However, breakfast was one thing Hermione was looking forward to. She just wished that Ron somehow wouldn't be there. She took a deep breath and headed to the great hall. Unfortunately, she saw Ginny, Harry and...Ron.

She thought of turning back but she knew she had to be strong so she walked towards the table. The two looked surprise and Ron seemed extremely uncomfortable. Harry was sitting beside Ron so Hermione went to sit with Ginny.

"Are you fine?" Ginny asked. She was surprised at the fact that Hermione was up and about.

"Yeah, definitely," Hermione replied, trying her best to keep calm and strong as she took some bacon and eggs for her plate. She wasn't that hungry but she had to show that she was fine. She suddenly felt queasy once she took her first bite and as she ate, she felt Ron throw a couple glances at her which made her even more uncomfortable. She quickly grabbed her teacup, poured some fresh tea, and gulped it down.

"You're not fine, Hermione," Ginny said softly so the boys wouldn't hear. Ron and Harry were whispering to each other as well.

"No, really, I'm fine. I just needed to energize myself, that's all," Hermione said, wiping her lips with the back of her hand.

"I still don't believe you, but I'll drop it this time. I have no intentions to try and pull the truth out of you. I mean, I didn't think you would be up early after I saw the state you were in," Ginny said with concern.

Hermione sighed and said, "Ginny, I'm fine. I need to go to class anyways. I look forward to seeing Professor La Croix. Maybe, for once, we have a decent professor. I might as well get up, you know. Eating and crying won't do me any good."

Ginny looked at her doubtfully but she finally gave in. Letting out a sigh, she said, "Alright. I'll make sure my brother gets one of my best hexes. I haven't used them in a while and I'm itching to try it on the bloody git."

Hermione grinned and laughed. "Okay. Hope you enjoy doing it."

"Oh, I will." She smirked deviously.

Draco was thinking of what Pansy told him that morning. He couldn't stop worrying about it. He wanted Pansy to stop flirting with him but at the same time he didn't want to get involved with Granger. And Weasley's around, that will make it worse. He couldn't believe he forgot that Granger has a boyfriend.
