Hey there, so here's the new chappie. I've had the Flu for like a week and a half, so I tried my best to work on it. This is a revealing chapter, I'm trying to introduce people and ideas. Hope you guys like it!
~ ~ ~Bjorn's voice filled my ears as I came to.
"Father knew her. I saw it in his eyes." It came as a hushed whisper, but I could tell it was him. I lied not even ten feet away from them, pretending to be asleep."Why did you even think to bring her back?" This was a different voice, one that I didn't recognize. It was higher pitched, but still gravelly.
"She was lost and injured, Floki. Ubbe brought her back to the cabin after finding her." Footsteps came closer to me, and I willed myself not to move. I kept my breathing at a steady pace, my fingers starting to twitch due to the stressful circumstance.
"That still doesn't answer my question, Bjorn. What if she is a danger?" The the other voice, Floki, sharply retorted. Ringing filled my ears due to the overwhelming silence, and that's when Bjorn's voice floated through the air.
"I don't know. I was going to let her leave, but the way father noticed her causes questions to arise. Like I said before, he knew her, but her eyes did not hold the same admiration his did," The footsteps began my way, and my resting heart began to beat. His large figure loomed above me, moving so to close that his knees bumped against the old, wooden bed frame. "Maybe the Seer will know." With that, he stormed off. My mind had no rest before the other voice spoke up.
"I know you are awake girl." My eyes shot open, and I turned as quick as my injured body could. The tall, gangly man stood against the wall, picking at something on his hand. His blue eyes were covered in charcoal colored paste, and they were focused in on me, calculating me in every way.
He shakes his head, then leaves, taking the same route Bjorn did a few short moments ago.
The breath I was holding released in front of me, fanning over the rest of my body. I tried to remember what happened, and when the thought of blood came to mind, I shook my head. What is wrong with me? The rough cloth that now covered my torso was off white, wrapping around my injured ribs.
The sound of shells colliding caused my head to turn in the direction of the doorway. A woman strolled in, holding a bottle of murky water, and a small smile etched across her face. Humming filled the air, and I immediately relaxed. Her round eyes caught sight of me, and she smiled widely.
"Hello! I am Helga, how does your side feel?" She crossed the room quickly, her long white dress followed behind her. Her thin hands reached for my ribs, and I jerked back. Her brow furrowed, and she softly shook her head.
"Oh, I'm not going to hurt you. Just wanted to check how you are doing. You were as swollen as a cow." Her bright smile appeared again, and I watched as she unwrapped my bandage some.
Her eyes roamed around my bruised side, nodding then wrapping me up again. She started to hum again, flitting about the room. I heard various noises coming from outside, my eyes looking through the cracks in the wall to see people passing through, trading and gossiping. Everyone around me is living normal life, yet here I am, a thousand years in the past.
Everything was different. The people, everyday life, even the air seemed clearer. My thoughts held me deep within my mind, clouding my vision. I'm hurt, coughing up blood, and I just want to get home. My eyes focused back in on what was in front of me when a vial of the cloudy liquid was put in my face.
"Drink this. It will help." She nodded, and I gently took it from her grasp. My shaky hands held the lip of the vial up to my nose, sniffing its contents. The strong smell of mixed herbs hit me like a truck, causing me to cough.
