Chapter 2

When we all woke and gathered at the kitchen table, everyone was silent. The only sound was the pups eating their food. Even the microwave, which cooked our Roman Noodle breakfast, only hummed quietly. It was as if the world was mourning the loss of such a terrifically named man.

Suddenly the phone rang like a jackhammer. I jumped up to get it.

"Hello?" i spoke.

"Yes this is the FLPD, as you should remember Mr. Nickel's tragic passing?" it was Officer Cry.

"Y-yeah. Yes." i said, looking over to my gloomy friends.

"Well, we looked into your and his history. His are private files, but yours surprised us. As we now know, you were once a falsely convicted criminal?"

"Um... yeah?"

"We think your status as heroes could help us. Would your team look into this case. It has only been twelve hours and it's gone cold. Please?" It was weird to hear a officer beg.

"Hold on." i said, putting the phone down.

"Guys." i said, walking back into the kitchen.

"It was FLPD. They want us to find who killed Nickel." i explained. They looked up, surprised.

"Really?" Gabby asked.

"Us?" Cloud said wide eyed.

I nodded.

"Yeah, us. Are we in?" we sat in silence for a few minutes.

"I'm in if you guys are." Kipz said.

"I'm in." Cloud said.

"Me twoooo!" Gabby exclaimed. I laughed.

"Me four. I'll go tell them." i went back to the phone, glad he was still there.

"We're in Officer Cry."

"Great! Meet us at the office in a hour, and from now on, call me Cry."

"Alright. We'll see you." i said, hanging up.

"I'm a good detective!" i heard Gabby say.

"So am I! There was a mystery as to who was eating cans of food. It was a goat!" Cloud exclaimed. I heard them all laugh.

"We gotta head. The police station is just a hour away, and that's when Cry wants us there." i said. Everyone stood, saying goodbye to Pepper and Fenn and hopped in Kipz Mercedes. Our adventure was only beginning.
